With the Tahoe/Yukon already increasing in length, has anyone who has bought a Suburban/Yukon XL ever said, "Gee! I wish I had a vehicle that was 12 inches shorter."

... or is the opposite more likely... someone who has bought a Tahoe/Yukon and wanted more space.
I can't say I have ever wished I had Suburban instead of my Tahoe. The times I have needed my trailer, I had so much stuff it would not have fit in a Suburban anyways....

I would grab the XL if I were to do it over again with my '22 Denali. I like the short wheelbase but the extra room behind the third row would be awesome.

Appreciate the insight from everybody. I told my dealer to give me that allocation and send in the order to GM for the XL. Will do whatever paperwork with him tomorrow, then hope for the best of getting a TPW and receiving the rig before summer is done.

Thanks @mountie for those pictures. Makes me feel much more confident with being able to get this rig into the garage space I have available.

With all seats folded down in my XL I have more cargo space than the bed of my Silverado.

With no kids/pets, me and the wife love the short wheelbase, 4x4, but it's a 2017

U turns are like you're in a luxury Jeep Wrangler, and parking is a breeze. Our 3rd row literally has been "up" twice in 3 years, so plenty of space for us. Just my .02 cents.!

We went small. Long not an option as a daily driver in the city where 12” is the difference between fitting in our garage or not, and fitting in a parking spot or getting your rear clipped.

When we need more storage space I just throw a $100 hitch mounted cargo rack on the back. Never had a single issue with space, even with 3 kids and a dog on long road trips.

I took the rear seats out of my 2010 the day I bought it and have not used them since.

These bigger rigs are great when you need to get a project done but weather isn’t cooperating. I’ve hauled 4x8 sheets of plywood in our old suburban when it was raining and didn’t want them getting wet in the bed of my truck

The '22 numbers might be higher due to the start of new model production and covid related items at that time. Interesting none the less.

Figured I would give an update on my status as well for my order.... after the sales manager said I could gave the allocation on March 18th, he gave me a new order number for the XL. After asking him some questions about timelines, and him being completely clueless, I gave it 3 weeks of the "your order has been submitted but not accepted" via GMC chat. I decided to goto the dealership when I knew this guy had a day off and talk with the other sales manager. Turned out, the order number he gave me for the XL was in somebody else's name for whatever reason still and this sales manager couldn't give me any info since he was not involved On either order.

Next day, my sales guy emailed me saying something got screwed up and his general manager would call me that afternoon. After sending a followup email to that response 7 and 9 days later, the GM called me on day 10 called me. He told me he "begged GMC for an allocation for me because of the mishap" (typical sales bs excuse in my opinion). So he got an allocation for me, being for my original SWB order instead of the XL. Workbench shows event code 2000, and GMC chat working is similar to reflect that. TPW around 5/20 according to him during our call.

After this thread, I got a little excited for an XL, but obv not going to turn this down after patiently waiting since september. I am more than likely going to throw in an order for a 23 XL when the books open up, and if the resale values are still high and I can get a pretty evenly priced swap, will do so depending on how the SWB works out for me.

And now the waiting process part 2 begins.

What an ordeal.
They're both fine, I bought the SWB because I already had a CC pickup. Plus the SWB would fit into my old garage where the XL would not.
But I'd only by the XL from now on - much more utility for just a little more cost.

had something similar happen...

placed a couple orders at our local dealer we have bought several from - had several discussion with the owner about our 2021 and wanted to get out from under it - not financially - it had just become a headache especially when they weren't giving a loaner every time we brought it in (15x in 9 months), was just throwing things at the wall trying to get them to stick in submitting a couple orders in Dec/Jan...4-5 months later none have been accepted

mid February I stopped by the same dealership and the owner told me they had just submitted four "stock" orders that nobody had claimed yet...so I claimed one right then, got the print out from GM workbench with the order number while I was standing there...

two months later after I had noticed the TPW sliding later and later, I stopped in and verified everything was still good to go - emphatic yes, don't worry this is yours.

two hours later that day he called and said he had accidentally recently promised that one to a fleet customer and that I couldn't have it, when I asked how he wanted to resolve him promising a vehicle that he had said would be ours, he simply said he had to let the other guy have it since they buy more cars from him...

let's just say we won't be doing business with them anytime soon

Thankfully I didn't put all my faith in one dealer and an order I had put in at another dealer in Jan came in last week

I can see more and more of this going to happen over the next 6 months...

The part that really eerks me is that this dealership legit has no inventory on the lot and looks like a ghost town. I would be more sympathetic and understanding if they were busy and had people coming in and out of the dealership right now. But when u got no product to sell, the least you can do is provide a little service!

If it wasn't for available being so low across the board, and placing a new order being lower on the waiting list at a different dealership, I wouldn't be buying from either of these dealers that I currently have orders placed with after the lack of service/response being provided on a 80k vehicle.

Trade in value for my 2021 Yukon Denali right now is exactly what I bought it for even with 22.5k miles. I was thinking of trading it in for an XL Denali, but there isn't much inventory. Plus, I noticed none of them around have the head up display.

Weird, my old window sticker says it, but the new one's don't. I guess they just updated them since I bought mine in Sept 2020
