Though the rap crowd adopted it as a symbol of wealth or status. There's much more old people in the world than there are rappers. And the wanna be rappers can't afford a new one, so they are buying many year old clapped out ones. I've bought the 3 I've owned either new or 1 year old. The first one I was overlooked and the salesman walked right past me and shook my dad's hand when it was announced I was there for the appt to buy my Escalade. I was 25 at the time, my dad just went, "I'm not buying, that's him, I just drove him here".My memories of the Escalade are it was the favorite of the rap-music crowd for quite some time.
The newer ones I see in my rural area are driven by middle-age women.
