XL all day. Kids are grown and gone. I rejected SWB for XL. Most of the time it's only me in it and I enjoy every minute.

Dealer just reached out to me saying they could get me an XL denali cause they received an allocation for those this week, but no shorties. I dont really need the XL as I only have 2 kids and 95% of the time, it's just me driving by myself.

Big question... do I just take the bird in the hand allocation with the diesel reserve package? Or be hopeful that they get an allocation I'm the next 2 weeks for the normal denali.... I've had my order in since August.

Take the XL. I've had a Tahoe, Suburban, and now a Yukon Denali. Believe me, you can always use the extra room. Go for a trip with your kids friends, and you'll appreciate the extra room behind the third row.

I got XL last week and the extra space is great for 3 kids. If you want to go small, I’d recommend then to explore X7 or GLS.

Only one problem with the tennis ball-finally took delivery of my Denali 3/18 and realized it's longer than my 19 was so I hung the ball to the windshield. The 19 had rainsense that was switched from the turn stalk. The 22 rainsense is automatic-no switch unless you turn it off. Two days ago it was raining as I pulled into the garage and just as the ball hit the window the wipers came on for that final swipe and sent the ball across the garage. Used to depend on Front Assist but waiting on a retrofit. Maybe i SHOULD USE A BASKETBALL

Or relocate the tennis ball to touch somewhere else, like the front edge of the hood, the cowl just under the wipers, or the top of the windshield in one of the corners where the wipers don't wipe

19' 5" deep back wall to 3" away from the garage door... I use 7' of width.
I back in..... I have a "just in case" rubber bumper on the back wall......Passenger mirror is about 3" from wall.
As long as your garage is clear to the back... ( You are screwed if the washer-dryer is there)...

I put a padding strip along the garage door bottom if I forget to back in all the way. ( I was nervous I might accidentally hit the close button, forgetting I wasn't all the way inside)

I used A/C pipe cover on the brace & used door edge protector on the bottom metal edge, in case it touches the hood, if closing.

You are making the case for spending the $20 on the motion activated laser pointer I posted above that got this whole thread off topic to begin with

BTW, I think if the wipers switch on the stalk is in the off position, the wipers are truly off, and will not wipe.
If you put them in the intermittent band, the function is one of these:
- Rainsense Enabled in Vehicle Personalization -- Wiper switch sleects the amount of sensitivity to moisture to cause a wipe, and the frequency
- Ransense Disabled in Vehicle Personalization -- Wiper switch works like old school intermittent wipers.

See pgs 98 and 131 in the owners manual.

I have had a Tahoe, as has a good friend. I bought a Suburban, and the ride was wayyy better than the Tahoe. Five years later I traded for a Yukon XL. I've had it for 18 years, and I would never go back to the shorty. My friend, after a 200 mile round trip with me in the Yukon, traded his Tahoe for a new Yukon XL, and he still has it after 16 years.

XL is fabulous, go big if you have the room. There's so much more room behind the third row and when all the seats are folded flat, it is gargantuan. You also get a big storage area under the floor in the XL for tools, blankets, hitches, etc.. I'm not sure how much of that exists with the shortie. Re: pulling in the garage, I just use the rear camera and ensure I'm past the threshold of the garage. I have a tandem garage though so I have a few feet to play with.

I'll add yet another voice to the XL choir. We have 2 kids and a dog, and the extra length comes in handy at least a dozen times a year. Without it, we would have had to take 2 vehicles each time. I also tow a 32' camper and the longer wheelbase makes it more stable in crosswinds. I have a buddy with 2 kids who used to have an XL and went with a new shorty Denali. He already regrets it.

I'm sure there are a ton of people who are happy with their shorties. I just don't know any of them.

With the Tahoe/Yukon already increasing in length, has anyone who has bought a Suburban/Yukon XL ever said, "Gee! I wish I had a vehicle that was 12 inches shorter."

... or is the opposite more likely... someone who has bought a Tahoe/Yukon and wanted more space.

I will add that if you're concerned about it driving like a boat, the XL is surprisingly nimble for a big rig, including turning radius. And all the cameras make a tight u-turn much more confident.
