I believe it. Drone or sound resonance at certain frequencies is something really weird and can be interpreted/heard differently depending on the person / environment.
Maybe thats why GM put this huge plastic piece there :)

Interesting. I was somewhat disappointed with my MIT. I couldn't really hear or feel a difference. The only benefit as far as I see is the simplification of the engine bay.

I'm going back to factory intake because the Airaid drones at times. Most people wouldn't notice or care at all. Bugs me.

Fair enough. We'll allow it. Carry on, sir.

I'd been running the Airaid MIT for months and didn't notice it. Something is different now and not sure what it is. I looked at the connections and they were tight. Then I experimented with putting the factory intake assembly back on, and the drone went away.

::shrugs::

Cold weather = denser air = change in resonant frequency?

Precisely. Air pulsing through a plastic tube creates tones just the same as hot exhaust air pulsing through metal tubes makes tones. Those hollow chambers in the stock intake are basically mufflers.

The muffler/resonator chambers in the stock tube don't pose much of a restriction/disruption to the air flow. They may cost a few horses at upper RPM, but that's about it. You should definitely hear a difference when the engine is under load, though. Either you have a performance muffler and can't hear the intake growl or you're "tone deaf" to those frequencies.

received a couple goodies in the mail today, got the cluster in now I can 20mph faster!, I got these blue led strips to put under the running boards to take the place of loosing the puddle lights from the alarm install but not sure if I am happy with there brightness the vendor indicated they were brighter (a lie), I am happy with the t10's though and I got the Loctite clear epoxy to coat the rear window defrost tabs once the broken one gets soldered back on and that will be after I get the rear bumper fixed which the insurance company finally decided to approve today and I got the 12v to micro usb inverter to run a hotspot but I haven't decided where to put it yet, I want it somewhere convenient but out of sight and out of the way.

I put one on the Burb and haven't noticed it BUT it's my wife's ride so I don't drive it that much and we haven't taken any long trips with it since I installed it. I am running the stock air box with a K&N style filter.

My dash started to buzz at certain RPM's with the air raid. Went back to stock as well, not a whole lot quieter, but dash buzz is gone. Doesn't sound quite as good at WOT, but I guess I can hear the exhaust better now.

Here is a question I will pose to those in the know...

Why is it some of the DICs I see on here have temperature and compass displayed and mine doesn't?

I assume it is either because mine is an LTZ and has the temp/compass in the mirror OR it is due to a difference of years. Mine is an 08. Are there any other features that mine doesn't show? I really wish I had an oil Temp gauge.

Actually wish mine was on the mirror like my ‘01 so my wife stops asking what the temp is.....;)

Mines a 10 and looks just like the one posted above. So maybe the years are a factor..

Does the new speedo read accurately? I know on the older trucks, changing to a higher-speed speedometer resulted in the same needle sweep, it was just now pointing at a different number on the gauge. What about the odometer- did your current mileage have to be programmed in the new one?

the cluster is programmed for my vin with the same mileage and hours, the only issue I am having now is I am so used to the needles being straight up for the temp/oil/volts and these are just a notch off from normal at initial warmup so I have to either adjust it myself or have someone else do it or send it back so the vender can do it. if I don't do it it's going to drive me crazy some form of OCD I guess lol

Isn't those needles being right better than them being straight up? Is there something that tells you they're wrong? Just a touch under 210 and a touch over 14....seems right to me. Why would you adjust them to be wrong just so they point straight up?!

my temp is always dead on 210 unless it's first warming up it does not vary (at all unless I driving hard thru the mountains it will go up a smidge), my voltage starts out dead on 14v (at initial warmup) and my oil sits dead on center on (initial warm up) all 3 of those on this new cluster are -1 oil, -1 temp,+1 volt

One thing you can do is key on, engine off, and see where they sit. They should 0 out.

vendor told me to run it a few days and then if I want it adjusted they will adjust it how I want. that way I will be sure exactly the way I want it adjusted so it's not going back and forth.
