What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I'd like to know your findings! I wish I could find ethanol in the 70s here. At what brand of fuel are you getting your 70-80%?

We used to only have Pearson and propel here, but for a while now, 76 has there own(they used to carry one of the other brands) and that's the most abundant here so that's mostly what I use.

That's the fixed caliper stuff, yeah? What diameter are the rotors?

Yup fixed 4 piston caliper. Only thing you need to do is add a washer between the spindle and caliper for it to be centered

Rotors are 13.5”

well the seal can be replaced from the front but most of the time the problem is the pinion is bad, replacing the seal alone has pretty low odds of fixing the problem.
you can drop the drive line and grab it and give a good wiggle if there is any play at all then it's time to replace the pinion and that's a bit of work and it has to be set properly or it will just fail again.
you have to remove the brakes, remove the axles, pull the carrier out and then you have access to the pinion

I'll drop it in the morning and give it a little wiggle.
I don't have the tools or knowledge to do that kinda work, never worked on any rear ends before. I'll have to drop it off at my mechanic for that.
From what I've seen it could be a warn seal, at least I'm hoping that's all it is.
One thing I've noticed since we've moved to the coast is the heat/humidity and just how strong the sun is, it's amazing how much of a difference there is compared to inland just three hours away.
I'll be back in the AM with an update.

If mine is no longer straight and ceiling properly. I figure I should replace it with something fancy.

pml is the only one that fits with the panhard bar iirc
It is what I have on mine, i like it except that it's raw aluminum, and almost like stains if you get gear oil on it. Powder coat would've been nice

Does Yukon Gear make one for that model?

EDIT: They only make a steel or chromed steel cover for the 9.5", not a fancy nodular iron one with drain plug.

If y'all decide you get sick of the door/seat belt/CEL/key in IGN/limp mode chime noise, I can attest that if the LF door speaker took a sht or is disconnected you will never hear it again FTIW.

Question, how many of you guys have replaced your pinion seal? Any tips would be much appreciated.

If the pinion appears good as Wes mentioned, then changing the seal is not too big a deal. First thing after pulling the driveshaft is to scribe a line on the pinion and pinion nut so you know where to torque it back to. You're supposed to use a new nut.

Before you remove the nut with an impact gun, use a beam torque wrench or one like below to measure the rotational force in inch/pounds.

When you torque down the nut after installing the new seal and line up the scribe marks, you want to use the torque wrench again and make sure the number is 3-5 inch/pounds more or else you'll have to take it apart.

I appreciate the help, looks like I'm not prepared to tackle this job just yet. I do have a seal puller but I'll run out to the auto parts store to see if they have an install tool and torque wrench to rent as well as buy a new nut. I had no idea it was a one time use type deal. I certainly don't want to have to do this again if so, it's going to my mechanic.

Looks like this will get dragged into next weekend.
In the meantime, I went under to clean up all the gunk on the rear cover, figured it would make it easier to access the bolts and I noticed when I was using my metal bristle brush to get the gunk off that the bolts were moving.
Long story short, 4 bolts were finger loose.
Tightened them down until next weekend when they will be replaced with new.

Yeah, so Pearson and propel don't have their own stations here, they use other stations to sell their product.
So before 76 had their own, any 76 used to carry one of those two brands at their pumps and it would say everywhere that it wasn't a 76 product, shell and Arco are some of the other stations around me that still carry their products at the pump. Propel also does biodiesel I believe.

Here's the 76 station that had propel pumps at I used to use with my Subaru.
Just checked propel's website and they only have fuel in California. A little bit Northern mostly in LA and a couple in San Diego is pretty much it though.

Looks like shell and Chevron are the ones carrying Pearson for the most part, Pearson has a ton of stations these days I looks like.

We have a couple of E85 providers around Denver, one being Alta Convenience that handles Conoco products. But the E85 there is clearly marked as "not a Conoco product." The there's the K-U-M & Go (LOL) that doesn't differentiate; not sure who provides their fuels.

Yeah, all these places definitely specify it's not their product as well. But 76 I noticed a bit ago no longer has that on their pumps or at least certain locations don't that I've been to regularly and then I just looked up the other day and 76 apparently does their own e85 now.

I just dumped 6 more quarts of transmission fluid and added 6 more. That’s 18 quarts through it now. Should be nice and clean. I‘m thankful for the new pan with the drain plug. So easy.
