Can’t get my left turn signal to turn off or my emergency flashers to engage. I tried changing the flasher relay but no luck. Could it be the turn switch itself or something else?

Probably the Combination switch. Many of us have changed at least one! Try changing the tilt on the wheel to see if wires broken instead.

Seems like the multifunction is likely the cause from how many videos there are of people having to change it. I’ll see if I can find anything wrong with wiring first!

Multifunction switch controls so many functions, I'm thinking that is your culprit. I had an issue that I would hear the ticking constantly without the turn signal selected. It would stop ticking when I pressed the brake, and then start again when I let off. Lol. Here is my original post. Good luck.

I am changing my multifunction switch tomorrow. My problem is the windshield washer won't spray (tested the motor and is working), and also if I turn my wipers on for a misty or light spray from the road, the wipers take like 5 minutes to go off and even then they sometimes stop in the middle of the windshield. And the cruise control is spotty. The switch does so many functions I am surprised it doesn't have some type of failure more often.

Just a heads up, those wiper issues are often resulting from cracked solder joints on the wiper motor board. You can usually reheat the solder or add a touch more, so it might be worth a quick check. There are probably YouTube repair videos that will show the common failure points.

Edit: video for future reference

Thanks. I am not able to physically do the work myself anymore so I have to pay someone. But if there is an issue after the switch change I will look into it.

I can attest to this fix as well. Done it once and it was a successful, permanent repair on (1) of the (4) rigs of this generation I've owned.

***Fun fact*** I worked for GM building these wiper motors for nearly (5) years back in the mid to late 90's in Rochester, NY. One of the strangest feelings is when I am working on a wiper issue on one of my trucks and then coming to the realization that there was a fairly good chance I helped build that wiper motor when it was on the assembly line. There's a silver sticker on the casing that gives the build date which makes it fairly simple to figure out. I can only imagine what folks who work in the car assembly plants must feel when they see/work on a vehicle they may have contributed to assembling originally.

Multifunction Switch Ebay

Found these on eBay for $40 vs $100 from big box auto parts places. Any reason to be concerned using one of these? From what I can tell the pins line up exactly and the part looks the exact same. I would definitely plug it up first and give it a test run before assembling everything

I suspect that the ones selling for $40-$150 are all from the same manufacturer with the prices just reflecting markups from the retailers and not stages of quality.

I have something like that in my Tahoe that I bought maybe three years ago for $70 or so. It never “cancels” when turning left and the wiper function is different - when you turn it to an intermittent setting it doesn’t immediately swipe the wipers and then start the intermittent timer like the GM part. It does the reverse, so I start on low and then go to an intermittent to get things started. Paint wore off of the end within a few months while the GM one took a few years to do it.

I live with it, too much of a pain to replace it. In hindsight, I’d have gone with the GM part or a junkyard one.

For others, the same cheap part probably worked perfectly fine so it’s going to be hit or miss like all aftermarket parts.

I got this one off of Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6JC2HGT?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 I haven't installed it yet as my mechanic got Covid so I can't report on it. But I have good luck with buying aftermarket stuff when its all I could afford. Once I get mine installed I can tell you how good it works. But that might be a week or two.

Mechanic installed it today and everything is now working like it should. Only took him about 45 but this wasn't his first one on a tahoe. So that helped.

Just did mine and unlike many videos I watched I did not take off the steering wheel and airbag. Used a L shaped T20 key for that tricky screw

Minor sidebar - you see that crack where the bezel clip slides in? The clip is spreading the “jaws” of that recess apart since it isn’t enclosed on all four sides…causing the crack.

Before it gets worse, you might consider flattening the bezel clip so that it doesn’t put pressure there. Adding some butyl tape in there will hold it in.

Think I’m gonna give this a shot over my staycation next week. If it can be done without airbag and steering wheel removal. Cruise control went out about 4 years ago and now my wipers no longer do intermittent wiping.

Make sure you have these sockets before you start on the Multifunction switch! Or you will be running out to the store. Ask me how I know. Lol
