As an update, I added a new Ac Delco serpentine belt and did a tire rotation. Added a car cover while the car sits parked a lot and is mainly driven on long roadtrips.

Took a long roadtrip to Charlotte from Houston and back for my twin brothers graduation from UNC School of Business (executive MBA).As usual, the car ran PERFECTLY. The jump seat came handy as at one point I had 8 people in the car at the same time. Sitting at 202,300 miles. I also decided to hardwire my Uniden R3 and use a mirror mount.

Small update. I had a P2138 code pop up at around 204,000 miles. I cleaned out my throttle body with cleaner and replaced my accelerator pedal and sensor with a brand new one from Oreilly. That fixed the code and all has been well. I also replaced my air filter and was surprised by how clean the old one was after about 20k. I also wired in a 200w siren with a wireless remote for fun at 205,200 miles. The console under the jump seat for the power box perfectly.

Well at 207,500 miles the OEM transmission decided to destroy itself. Luckily the car was able to be driven all the way from Baton Rouge to Houston. I was able to pull the codes and pull the transmission pan. Carnage pics are attached:

So I ended up posting the car for sale on Facebook Marketplace since I could not find any feasible solutions. All the shops seemed shady and charged an arm and a leg to rebuild or replace.

Luckily for me, someone recognized the car from the forum here on Facebook marketplace. That person referred me an outstanding transmission shop here in Houston and the car was towed there today. Supposedly it will be finished tomorrow. The tranny will be replaced with a fully rebuilt unit with a billet torque converter. Trans cooler and oil lines will be flushed. Couldn’t be happier when I talked to the owner of the shop as he seemed extremely knowledgeable about the 6l80e. I also saw like 50 other Chevy’s there for 6l80e replacements.

The best part, the new tranny will come with a 5 year old/100k mile warranty.

So a quick update. The car was ready at 9am the evening after I dropped it off. That’s wild. The car transmission is a 10/10. I literally cannot feel the shifts at all. It is that smooth. If this is how these tahoes drive when new then I’m blown away.

For those in my position, I HIGHLY recommend Kyle Transmission in Houston Texas. The owner, Kyle, is a stand up guy. He definitely earned a customer for life. I will attach my receipt for anyone interested.

I’m ECSTATIC to have the car back with the way it drives. The less than 12 hour turn around is just wild to me.

Just about finished wrapping up a 4,000 mile roadtrip from Houston to Charlotte to Washington DC to NYC and back. Trip was over 12 days. The Tahoe really got used with two kids, two dogs, wife, and lots of luggage. I bought a Thule XL Force basket to carry all of the luggage. It worked really well with the roof rack that I added.

The unfortunate part is that the NYC streets completely ate up my driver side wheel hub bearing to the point of throwing the bearings out onto then rim. OUCH! Had to buy a new hub bearing at autozone for $275 and have it installed for $355 at the local New Jersey Pep Boys. Sucks but it could have been ALOT worse.

Check out that wheel  angle just outside of NYC on the New Jersey side. Talk about inches from complete disaster. Sitting at 213,500 miles now.
