QUESTION--Got a lead on a complete 6.0 with less then 70,000 miles on it. I think it's from a truck or van. Guy wants $1000. Only thing is it's from an 01. Motor I was thinking of getting is from an 03 with supposedly 91,000 from a junkyard. Leaning towards the 01 because it's a friend of a friend, and he's a stand up guy. The junkyard SAYS it has 91,000 with no proof--and it's a junkyard. Any pitfalls to getting the older motor? Less power and tq then the 03 motor? I'd be using my top end anyway tho--and hopefully my old cam--if it's still good. Thoughts?

the junk yard engine should have a warranty with it. if this is a pulled engine they usually write the mileage on the engine or tag it before pulling it out with the miles and year it came from. they make damn sure its a solid running engine before pulling it out. (cause the warranty) most come from a crashed or rolled over car/truck.

im sure the friend of a friend is not offering any warrantys.

He actually is, 90 days--but no labor--as per usual.

EDIT--Came from a 2500 Suburban.

If you were some no good ************* lying about helping a homeless person you would have a hundred grand right now and counting...
Oh man! It's sad when stuff like that happens, praying on people's generosity--and just plain being a human being . Guy is a Vet too. Sad :(

thats a scam or huge typo

Oh yeah that’s a typical Craigslist scam if I ever saw one. They try to get people to show up with large amounts of cash so they can have a bunch of dudes pop up and rob you or worse. Take your cash, phone, wallet with credit cards, force you to give your PIN so they can empty your bank account while you’re left tied up somewhere. I see those in the CL ads around here all the time, and news reports of idiots getting robbed responding to these ads. Do you really think they’re gonna sell that truck for $1000? BTW they only have a PICTURE of it, no actual truck is in their possession.
