That NBS interior though. I'm not saying that the NNBS interior is on par with RR, but it's worth the upgrade over the NBS. As far as the 6.2 vs 5.3, its still a big slow land barge with either motor.

If I had an 03 with only 105 on it and it wasn't giving me any problems I'd just keep driving it and possibly update it. Not worth the risk of buying something else that's used that you don't know the true history on.

That's my feelings as well.

I had an 05 Escalade and traded it for an 07 only because I could never get the 05 to ride well and the trans was acting up. My 05 had been hit before I bought it and I didn't know how bad until I got into it. I won't make that mistake again with buying a vehicle with promised "light damage".

I do love the bells and whistles of the later models but you will be taking a chance on a vehicle you're not buying new. If my 05 had been as good as your 03 I wouldn't have moved to a newer model. Regardless of how good your vehicle is, you will have a hard time getting what you want for a trade in. It might be worth to a dealer a few hundred dollars more than a lesser quality average vehicle.

Hey everyone I'm reading through this post and liking what you guys are saying. I'm trying to find some info and also and some questions about my ride. Picked up 2006 Denali XL in,fevruarly last year. Drove it off the lot and absolutely fell in love with it. Love my 6.0 V8. Had 74,600 on it when I bought it. Now its@ about 83,000 and it's having a trans problem. Pulled a solenoid failure. Replaced the solenoid pack and changed fluid and filter. There were no chunks of metal in fluid. Didnt fix the problem. It won't shift into reverse and won't drop into 1st. Any thoughts? Also people are telling me to get rid of the car??!! I don't want to get rid of my car. I love it and it's so young!

Replace the tranny and you will be good to go again. A few small up grades and you will be impressed.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I've already added a few upgrades. Gonna put a new stereo unit with a back up camera in after trans. Done a few other upgrades and I entirely love it.

I drove my '03 burb almost daily for 2-3 years. Picked up an '09 Yukon XL Denali last year and totally love it, well except that it is AWD rather than 4WD (selectable)

I think that both vehicles are very reliable and nice to drive. I drive the Yukon mostly, as it's newer and the brakes don't feel as mushy as the '03's do.

BTW, one of the reasons for getting the Denali was for the 6.2 non-DOD motor. I've heard too many issues with oil consumption on the newer GM DOD motors..kinda hit/miss, but I'd rather avoid that problem by getting a non-DOD setup.

I like the idea of the DOD motors and started shopping for one with the DOD. In the end though I wound up with my 07, great price, extremely clean, and I couldn't justify spending $10K more for a vehicle I don't drive daily.

I had a new suburban as a loaner for a week with the DOD setup and my mostly highway commute that thing averaged 25 mph with me running around 70 mph. It settled in in V4 mode quite nicely.

My likes are changing and I wish I now had gotten newer with the DOD option. I'd make the Escalade my daily driver with that kind of fuel economy.

Interesting had no knowledge of the DOD or AFM i believe if i researched correctly. Honestly im never comfortable being a part of technology thats still in infant stages so to speak. Apparently this cylinder deactivation results in 5% fuel savings? I put on about 5k miles a year so think this turns out to be $2.50 a month in savings. Ummmm yeah ill pass lol.
As for all this new technology i have a 15' 335i and the stupid thing turns off when you stop. Fortunately you can turn this feature off bc imo its so silly. Id rather spend a few more bucks in fuel for proven technology. This is just me

Btw - i found a pair of 2nd row captains chairs :) thinkng about swaping them w the bench. Which is one of the reasons why i wanted a denali

If you have a BMW you know the pain associated with having cutting edge technology :D I just replaced the electric water pump in my 335xi, to the tune of $550 just for the parts.

Seems like a lot more than 5%, more like around 20% better. I think it was this thread I posted earlier where I had a 2015 Suburban as a loaner for a week. 25 MPG averaged over the week with 80% highway driving. My Escalade won't get more than about 17 MPG average on the same commute.

The technology isn't in its infancy anymore. The 2015 I drove was so smooth switching between V4 and V8 mode that I "think" I felt it switch a couple of times when I was trying to notice the switch. I think the technology has been around since 07 on the on the 5.3L trucks, Earlier on the 5.3L cars (06 maybe)?

I think the Escalade got it in 09.

gotchya i was just going off what GM claims.... but even if its not really infant anymore id just rather have a regular engine so to speak. The more they strive to implement newer technology into their fleet the more issues the consumer has a chance of having down the road.

Anyway as for the 2nd row captain chairs i thought i was going to get turns out they were a different color and from a tahoe not suburban :(.

But i tell ya every time i drive the 03 im just so confident in her. Such a great machine for sure.
