Just reading of your troubles stresses me out. lol

At the same time, it also makes me glad that I can be lazy and have an "eh, it's too much trouble and it's fine as-is" attitude about some things.

Yeah, I just got that attitude towards the switch bezels. There won’t be any simulated brushed metal look. If I can just get them all painted in the dark metallic and installed I’ll be happy. I still need to cut, weld, bondo and paint the driver one. I was waiting until I received the third panel just to see if they included the switches and bezel so I could sell the brushed one instead of cutting it up but no such luck. Sigh.

While I was struggling with the HVAC module the nice UPS guy dropped off the driver front door panel. If you’re keeping track, this is #3. I was afraid to open it, with the way today was going. I could. Not. Resist. AHA! It looked great, even the handle. At least until I removed it. It has the same broken plastic pieces broken where the metal plate screws on. But the good news is, I have the one perfect handle from the wrecking yard panel, but it used to be tan. It’s been painted though, sitting in the spare bedroom. I think it looks fine. So i can make this panel work after all.

Ah yes, the give it a break routine. I’m on a temporary layoff and the weather is nice so it’s a good opportunity to work on it. I just had a difficult day yesterday. It was a lesson learned though to anybody who programs modules- if you have an aftermarket stereo or alarm system, pull the fuse to it before programming or risk bricking the item you’re trying to program.

Driver side is a bit harder, but I used some solvent glue on the thin side where there’s no room to melt the plastic with my iron. It’s ready for bondo.

I forgot I had some Fusor finishing filler left over from when I was modifying my Harley fairing. It’s specifically for plastic like this and it’s fast ,1-2 minute work time and 20 minutes till sanding. Anyway, I’m almost done, I will wait until it’s cured and then wet sand with 400 and hit it again with a final coat.

Yeah, I was envisioning some spots as well. It is a good looking color!

Aaaaaannnd the difficult one is done as well and I installed the driver front door panel today. Also pulled the right headlight to see if I could jump the horn to see if it’s bad and found I had disconnected it last time I pulled that headlight out. Duh felt relieved and stupid at the same time. Also got the call, going back to work tomorrow so I have to wait until the weekend to do any more troubleshooting. I was working on the dome light circuit but ran out of time. The interior is done except now it’s torn apart again looking for electrical problems. I’ll figure them out eventually.

Yep.
Edit: after taking the last pic I noticed it’s not sitting flush. Seems like it’s a tad too wide at the outside edge. I need to sand that edge so it isn’t so tight where it’s inset there. Pretty damn close though.

In an effort to cut down on the interior finishes I just ordered a set of brushed metal steering wheel covers. Eh, it's just another $115. That's the last thing that was wrapped. Figured might as well, the steering wheel itself is new.

They’re too close to the brushed dash pieces. As in right in the line of sight.
