My crew went to replace a glass unit on the 23rd floor of this tower today ( see the hole in the building up there) but the swing stage wasn’t right so we went home. And so I figured it was a good day for the junkyard to look for missing fender bolts and door bumpers. Scored what I needed for $3. About 20 bolts and extra bumpers. Nice.

Nice score mark, wish i had a yard around here, well, a you pull it yard, they are all computerized and you’re not allowed in yard anymore due to insurance because some tool got hurt and sued. Last one here i was allowed to walk around in stopped back in 01-02 shortly after i did a cab swap on my old ‘83 dodge w250 pickup. Anyway, nice $3 score

Yeah, but when I asked them if they had any 07-14 Chevy trucks the dude said no way, it was too new and if they did get one in it would be stripped immediately. I told him an older truck would prolly have the same parts so he said if I wanted to pay the $2 yard entry fee I could go look. I found a few OBS Burbs so that’s where the parts came from. But it was pretty bleak in there. Not much in the way of GM stuff at all. There’s wrecking yards around with newer stuff but you can’t pull your own. He charged me $1 for the actual parts when I came out.

It's great to be on first name terms with the guys at the salvage yard. Ever since I sold my S10, XJ and WJ, I really have no reason to go visit my local U-Pull-It. Lots of fun times, there. It's worth the $2 just to browse to see if a vehicle has something cool that I can retrofit to my Tahoe (which I haven't done yet).

That’s the I-405 Fremont bridge in Portland.

It’s been awhile since it was together. Ready for paint. I had to cut some supports in the front fenders in order to bring the bottom edges out so they were flush with the headlights and re-weld them at the correct distance out. Done.

They were never rolled and when the inner structure was cut out it left them sharp so if the wheels were turned too far (when I’m riding low) the tires would grab the lip and bend it down or up and the PO had re-bent them a few times so when I did it, they broke at the bend. Plus I put 295 tires on it for the drive from Cali which made it worse. I ended up wrecking the passenger side fender. So now they’re rolled and where a tire would contact, it’s smooth so they won’t catch. Plus I went back to 255 tires. Much more clearance.

Makes sense! Sounds like you're making it right that wasn't right before. Seems like even though you bought a 'built truck' you've had to go back and redo quite a few things that weren't done right or at least tie up a lot of loose ends since you've owned it. The truck seems to have come a long ways since you bought it.

I'm pretty sure it will be the Split 6's. I just sent a request for a quote on 26 x 14's for the rear and 26 x 9's for the front. I want the wider wheels for the rear so I can get rid of the 2" spacers I have. The rear end was narrowed for 14" wheels. I love the look of those wide hoops. On another note, Eastwood has a 100% satisfaction guarantee so I emailed them and asked for a refund due to all the issues I had with the fender roller, including the stripped threads on the adjuster nut. And even though I used Vise-Grips on the thing and bunged it all up, they're refunding me for the whole shebang, lol. Good customer service right there.

intro quoted me $1395 each for the fronts and $1595 each for the rears, just about what I expected. Plus shipping of course. I figure eventually I'll be able to sell the ones on it now for prolly $3000- $4000 plus I am going to sell my 26" Dubs with tires for hopefully $1500 so in the end it should almost be a wash. Of course I'll still have to buy 2 new tires for the rear since the rims will be 2" wider. I'm going to stop by the body shop today and measure the backspace on the ones it has on since even the rear will be the same, the extra width will be on the outside and I'll lose the 2" spacers I put on it. The hoops will be super deep. I'm going with the Split 6's with brushed face and polished hoops just like that red truck, only his are 12" wide.
Edit: it's a done deal, wheels are ordered.

I changed the wheel order after looking at tire options for 26 x 14’s. I would have had to go to a 315/40-26 because there’s no 30 series tires that wide and those would only be 12.4” wide so they would be an extreme stretch on a 14” rim. For comparison the 26 x12’s that are on it have 295/30-26 tires that are 11.6” on a 12” rim and they’re definitely stretched. So after re-thinking my goals which are to remove the 2” spacers and have the wheels remain at the furthest outward distance as possible (as close to the fenders as possible) as well as increase the depth of the lip by 2”, I came upon the conclusion that if I just decrease the backspacing by 2” and leave the rims at 12” wide, the goals are all accomplished. This basically moves the center of the wheels back in the hoops 2” so the lips are now 9” just like the 14” wide rims would be with a 5” backspace. And the spacers can go away. Added benefit: reuse the tires, saving about $400 or more. So I sent the change order in. They called me, and at first she said they can only go to 4” minimum backspace. She said besides that, I’d have to be modified. I said believe me, I’m modified lol. As in the rear end is narrowed, so she goes back and asks an engineer and comes back and said they can do it, at least real real close to 3” if they do some other machining. So it’s a go. 26 x 12 with a 3” backspace. They’ll look like 26 x14’s from the outside.
