I don't know if my masking skills are up to it...I'm still trying to figure out how to mask the turn signal reflectors on the headlights.

Carefully and you can use an exacto knife to help with the curves. Sometimes I need to dye an Infiniti or Mercedes steering wheel, so I just tape the emblem up and use that knife. Comes out great every time.

I should be fine. I used to do alot of exacto knife work when I did sandblasting on glass. The only problem I'm having is deciding exactly how much to paint. There's about 3 different combos I've seen with these lights.

Man this is tedious shit and it drives my eyes crazy with all the mirror reflections. My old man hands aren't as steady as they used to be. I haven't used this old xacto friend for about 25 years. Still deciding on my paint pattern; I think I might leave the 2 strips that go from the turn signal reflectors to the side as an accent but not sure. And I don't know if I'm going to leave the main shrouds chrome or paint them too. Probably paint but I think I'll paint these parts first and fit them together along with the projectors and their shrouds to see what it all
looks like. Here's one with the factory shrouds painted but it's not a retrofit so there's no projector.

I would paint the center strip in the amber lights because you don't have that same line for the headlight section. I like the silver painted side but leave bowls chrome as you have them taped off currently. Leave projector shroud chrome to make all that work stand out. Also the unpainted side strip might match with projector. Note paint the original headlight side portion so only the new projector shroud is chrome. Can you post a rough visual of shroud with chrome side strips to compare?

For the love of all things do not do those LEDs like that though.

Yes no strips or anything as such! I don't even like switchback turn/parking bulbs because I have yet to see a proper glow from an LED switchback in a bulb bowl. I do like the morimoto led bulds and sylvania zevo in a standard bulb bowl. I have the zevo as reverse bulbs and wow do they help out a bunch! I still run stock bulbs up front in the headlights because of the visual appearance and glow is better suited than LED.

I decided to not leave the strips by the turn signals. The only thing not painted on that part is the reflector bowls. I'm thinking I'll leave the shrouds unpainted too; I think with the dark paint that will be too much, like the red ones above are too much. And no strips, but I do have Morimoto switchbacks in one set of the turns and clear 3157 LED's in the other set. The retrofits have an eyeball etched in the lens and they will have demon eyes so I'll be able to have colored eyeballs lol. They can get the true red eye treatment. That stuff will be delivered today.

I like the plans for the lights and agree with painting the strips. Not sure if painting of the headlight bowl outside edge near turn signal or not. I need to see a shroud in front of it with painted marker section. The morimoto switchbacks should give the correct glow and demon eyes sounds good for the truck.

I painted the parts of the headlights that I know for sure I'm painting. I still have to clear coat them but they were out of the good stuff so I put that on hold.

The TRS stuff came in so I started on the retrofit. Holy crap it's a handful. I started on just one side for now , just to get my feet wet. First was modifying the lens to accept the projector. I had to open the hole up so it would fit through, then grind part of the mount out of the way so it would slide back all the way. Then the nut on the back wouldn't tighten far enough to install the hardware so I ground down the rear of where the bulb used to mount. Then of course there was the wire for the shutter so I drilled a hole for that. I installed the projector and mounted the bulb and shroud and I was so happy. Then I realized the demon eye needed to be mounted on the projector before it was mounted so I removed it all again and used my air grinder to enlarge the hole for the demon eye wires.

I mounted the projector and started hooking up the massive amount of wiring. I kind of got overwhelmed with all the wiring at this point. The instructions are for each different item, and I had to keep looking up one more set of instructions after another. It's a lot of wiring for a headlight. The main harness is actually for both and so is the RGB computer but still...

Sorry for the sideways and upside down pictures but this site does that to me and it's a hassle to fix so this time I'm not going to. I ended the day by hooking up the demon eye and downloading the ap to my phone, then attempted to color match the projector to the truck. I can get it pretty close. Also, I just messed around with it a bit. Kinda cool, and I definitely like the eyeball etching on the projector.

Well it looks like things are on hold. The Beast decided to start running rough yesterday and threw code P0400 and a flashing CEL for a few seconds after a WOT run. I'm going to try plugs today just to see if they're the problem but I'm pretty sure the small intake leak that Blackbear told me about last year turned into a bigger one and the blower needs to be R&R'd. I wish I knew how Justin can see the leak from a data log because I should be able to use the Tech 2 to see it. Anyway the blower is a bear to install so I hope that's not it but I fear it is.
