Found in oil pan 2012 Yukon denali

Removed my oil pan on my 2012 Yukon Denali to replace the take up tube O-ring.
Vehicle runs good, no rod knock, no broken cylinder connecting rods ends.
Does not seem to look like a connecting rod bearing.
Any thought what is is or where it came from?

Could it be the spring for the timing chain tensioner?

You are already receiving possible suggestions from the knowledgeable folks on this Forum, and others will chime in.

While you have the oil pan off, you may want to replace the over pressure oil relief valve that's screwed into the oil pan itself. There is also a deflector available for that relief valve (GM recommended), so that when it releases oil, it deflects the oil back into the pan, versus onto the rotating parts above. These relief valves eventually fail in the open position, thus lowering your oil pressure.

It sure looks like the timing chain tensioner spring picture.

That's definitely the timing chain tensioner. Time to pull the front cover.

Basically what you'll need is a harmonic balancer puller, a new harmonic balancer bolt (supposed to be a one time use torque to yield) The crankshaft holding tool. Front timing cover set.
The VVT actuator is threaded and is what retains the camshaft sprocket on. It's also a torque to yield and should be replaced. Timing chain set is worth doing since you're in that far. If you're past 150,000 miles I do the oil pump as well.

A fellow on the silveradosierra forum recently posted the exact same part he also found and the consensus was that it was the timing chain tensioner part, as @mikez71 stated...

Excellent point that it could be left over. Not sure a boroscope camera will fit from underneath around the timing chain to get a view of the tensioner....
