I have a window that used to come all the way through the interior so I pulled the sash, replaced it with plywood, and sawzalled off the interior so it can be rocked over. The outside is an area that you really can’t see unless you go over there but I might side over it later if it bothers me. I added 6 outlet boxes in the ceiling that turn on with the light switch and am going all LED lights. I bought (2) 8’ strip lights @14,000 lumens each and just order 2 more, plus I have a ufo one that’s about 30,000 lumens. It’s gonna be bright af and use way less power than my old fluorescents. I’m putting plugs on each light do they can be moved around for the best locations as well as replacement if needed. If they were hard wired it would be a hassle. I also splurged on one nice cabinet on wheels that can sit in front of the rear overhead door that I’ll install. It needs to be able to roll out of the way. I’ll build a new workbench with the top made out of 1 1/8” floor sheathing plywood, so it will be sturdy af. I’ll add a cabinet underneath with sliding doors. It’s a work in progress but here’s this mornings shot of the bright first half with my new cabinet.

Some old school lumber I uncovered. Some actual 2X that is a full 2” thick and part of the original bench is 2 x 12 vertical grain Douglas fir that’s so high quality that it’s still perfectly straight, as if it’s made out of steel it’s so perfect.

Dog's thinking " We can fit a lot of dog food in here!"

I, too, am thinking about adding a rear overhead door to my 1-stall garage. So I will be interested in how yours comes out.

Back in my overhead door days, I installed 20x8s on three walls of a garage. It was a huge house at the top of a hill in the center of a few hundred acres. You could open all the doors and have a huge covered patio with a nice breeze blowing through. I'd like to have a setup like that some day, but just with two opposing doors cuz I actually use my garage. This rich dude with the three doors just parked in his and had a gigantic shop down the hill for his toys.

Well I was gonna just do a first skim coat to cover the screws and seams like the normal garage half- finished look but that kinda bothered me so I’m doing a second coat, sanding and priming in white. Looks so much better. Today I found an old oil tank dipstick and I mean old. Look at the phone number for Sunset Fuel- CHerry 6-3381 instead of 246-3481 and no area code. That was back in the days of operators so if you needed to call out of your area you dialed 0 and get the operator to help.

Doug fur is nice stuff I wish it was more common down here. Kinda funny lumber isn't true to size anymore, there was actually a couple lawsuits about it a few years back. The couple got home and found out they were deceived and their wood was smaller than they wanted. :manos::jester:
