Gentlemen,

Thanks for the welcome!
Sorry I have not replied sooner. The past couple of days have been packed with issues.

Yesterday evening just after 8:00PM, the driver delivered my Escalade. I was stoked!!!

I gave it a once over, and my wife came out for a look-see as well. Her main sentiment...Its HUGE! :D
I took it for a drive to get dinner later. Surprisingly, I had no real trouble backing into my spot in the driveway. The backup camera will definitely take some getting used too...

Sitting in my driveway this morning.

I have errands to go run this morning. I have to drop off a new GM 24222657 transmission pan to my machinist. I have drilled a hole in the deep part of it and am having him weld a bung on the outside for a drain plug. I will install this new pan when I do the transmission work next week.

On that note, I have read alot about the imminent failure of the torque converter in the MYC-6L80 transmissions. My intent is to put a new, better torque converter in if and when I remove the transmission. However, with this being AWD, I am not removing the transmission on a whim. It looks like this Escalade has never towed. There are no scratches or marks in the hitch receiver. I rarely tow, and if so, its a tiny two-wheel trailer with a lawn tractor on it. The fluid is still red, and we shall see what kind of debris I will find in the pan. I DO plan on replacing the torqe converter at some point in the future. Just not this minute.

Once I get home today, I start the battery replacement, fluid changes, and learning all the features of this beast.

Thanks!

Yup, one step at a time.

On the TC, towing isn't the root cause for failure. I only mentioned towing because it was the impetus for me to make the upgrade, and I'm glad I did. Some folks here, including me, have found that when they got their TC out (mine was at 118K miles, and others were between 120K and 150K miles, IIRC), that the lockup clutch was in bad enough shape that failure was imminent, even though it hadn't failed yet. I paid a shop to do mine and had them do the rear main seal at the same time. They put in a TC made by CVC (model BU60-FHD) - a remanufacturer of transmissions and components that performs a full upgrade including a billet housing and stronger lockup clutch. My transmission shop prefers their stuff so I went with their recommendation. I didn't make any mods or upgrades to the transmission yet, but likely will this winter.

What was the ballpark cost to have all that done?

I have a slight oil leak that I'm thinking may be the rear main seal. It's not enough to leave a drip or puddle while parked, but the back of the pan, oil filter, and sway bar get a lightly coated between oil changes. I've tried different filters, replaced the oil cooler block gasket, and checked the torque on the pan bolts, which a couple towards the rear weren't tight.

I'm thinking about having a shop replace the rear main seal and since the trans has to come out, do this torque converter upgrade. It just hit 130k.

OK, fair point. We shall see if I need the 2 year powertrain warranty I got with the Escalade. I will admit to being a touch concerned now. I sucked some ATF out of the transmission for a sample. It was browner than I like. I pushed the suction tube in too far and likely scraped the top of the filter. It came back out with some sludge on it.
I will get a better idea next week when I pull the pan.

Tonight, I have started draining the front differential and transfer case. While I was under there, I sprayed the exhaust down pipe mounting nuts with AeroKroil. I will do that again at least 2 more times. This thing is CLEAN underneath! No rust. So...I am hopeful the down pipe nuts come off without a fuss.

I may be pulling the transmission sooner rather than later. :I

Thanks!

Welcome!! Great looking rig! It’s what I want and soon! Love all the body colored accents on the premium package, the dark finish 22s and those LED tails just look so good! The 6.2 is awesome! And will be lots of fun for you!

Hello Gentlemen,

Long time lurker, now finally able to post. I come here from the Ford Explorer world. My beloved 1999 Explorer Limited 5.0L AWD was taken out by an inattentive drive last month.
Since I had to go back into debt to get a replacement, I decided to get something I wanted. I had been looking at 2010-2014 Tahoes for awhile. However, in my relative area, they were going for $25 large. Which I was OK enough with.
Then I stumbled upon this 2013 Escalade ESV Premium AWD at a dealer 4 hours from home. It was a two owner with 123,702 miles on the clock. I have a decent service history. Shock replacement at all four corners in early 2020 stands out as a very good thing.

The test drive was great! I was comfortable and had all kinds of room. However, it didn't feel all that big to drive. My Explorer was a little cozy inside. Granted, I am a fat bastard...
And...when I put my foot in the water pump, the 6.2L made GREAT noises!

The dealership replaced the oil pan gasket, oil cooler lines, transmission cooler lines, air filter, cabin air filter, and wiper blades during their inspection of the vehicle. As well as did an oil change.
They are delivering the Escalade to my home tomorrow afternoon. Why? Because they are touching up paint scratches on the bumpers and replacing all four door window trim appliques.

I have ordered an Alldatadiy subscription for it.
I have ordered an AutoCal V3 tune kit from BlackBear Performance.
I will be ordering a Tech 2 as soon as I sort through the 'Tell Me Why I Want A Tech 2' thread.

My plan is to change all the fluids immediately, with the exception of the transmission fluid. (It is currently nice and red, however...)
And replace the battery.
Oh yeah, I need to write down all the RPO codes from the sticker in the glove box.
Then inspect the brakes and such.
I have ordered Sonnax pressure switch rebuild kit and the 6L45-6L91-ZIP kit, and a new GM transmission pan. I will weld a bung to the new pan for a drain plug. When the Sonnax parts arrive, I will drain the trans and drop the valve body. Once back together, I will flush the transmission with new synthetic GM Dexron VI.

In the near future, I am doing a plugs/wires tune up and replacing the serpentine belt and tensioner.

From there, I will just drive the wheels off it and learn the nuances in care and feeding of a 2013 Escalade. I have been lurking here for a few months. My Explorer was totalled last month, but she was old. I had been looking for something else for a bit.

I plan on being an active member on this forum. Thanks for having me!

Photos below are at the dealership today:
just snap a photo of the RPO codes and print it out on hte computer
