New gears anyone ?

Local shop has either 3.73 or 4.10 4wd kit for about $1000, and another $950 in labor to get it done for me.
Im just wondering is the 2k worth it in acceleration and will it give me a little smile every time I romp on this thing?
I drive about 25 min every night around 1am to work so roads are always empty and im always out there having a good time.
Id hate to spend the 2k and feel like it wasn't worth it

If you wonder if the acceleration is worth it, mind that your city & towing MpG will improve, and your 6L80E will last longer, both will save you money over time.
No cam will ever do any of those things.

same, with premium or e85. no change in mpg (for me). probably just the way I drive.
the only time I get "better" mpg is driving thru mountains, which makes no sense because I drive thru mountains like a crazy person
should have been born rich and been a rally racer that would be a dream come true, but it would be a hell of a way to die though.

Where is this shop at? $2,000 installed is a great deal. Last time I looked just the parts was $1500 per axle, plus labor. I was thinking like $4k installed.

I wish I could, but all my resources are here so I'm stuck
we actually have 3 trucks but the third one is still being payed for
this economy has taken all my "extra" money, if I can get my current debt payed down in the next 1 1/2-2 years I might have some extra money again, maybe
if something doesn't break in the meantime.

Local shop offers a nice 3.73 package bundle , would only be doing this for some faster acceleration but not sure how bad it'll hurt me mpg wise when I'm on the highway going about 70. Im already on e85 so I go thru gas pretty quick as it is ha. Thoughts?

I don't post much here but a couple of observations on gearing. I went from a 2016 5.3 tahoe 3.08 to a 2020 5.3 Suburban 3.42 (max tow option). The heavier Suburban feels quicker in every aspect, from a stop, passing etc. It revs a bit higher like a uhaul truck but whatever.

Recently I rented a brand new 25 denali Yukon with the 6.2. While it definitely had more guts, the difference between my aging heavier Suburban and the denali wasn't as much as I thought it would be.

Point of my rant is even 3.08 to 3.42 added some fun. I wouldn't drive another 3.08.

We like Mike's linens and the pillows are great after coming out of the dryer. Towels actually remove water and bed sheets are nice at a great price point.

As to the topic at hand, I concur, the steeper gears work great with these high revving engines.

Objectively measurable stuff:
Times: 0-whatever MpH you feel comfortable measuring
MpG: metro/urban & highway-cruising
Can't think of anything else objectively measurable at the moment.

The rest is subjective; only question is how much better you like it.

With 4.10 I would just be doing burn outs at every light and every corner lol
the 3.73 in my 03 pickup was bad enough, my sister has it now. We were visiting earlier this summer she asked me to put a new ac belt on it and then I took it for a drive
went around the corner and roasted the tires without any effort and completely by accident, lol

Take it to the track and make 3 quarter mile passes before and after the gear swap. On the way, show the cruise rpms at the same speed.

Approx 4k $$ later ... Definitely more then what I wanted to spend but now that I crossed the 500 mile mark and changed all the fluids... tahoe feels amazing !!! Holy crap
