as for the original problem, couple solutions
1. put the piece in, drill it from the side and put a pin in it, screw, etc
2. hot glue that bish
3. drill all the way thru and cotter pin it, wire wrap, etc

Ive already supper glued the bish
epoxyed the bish
plastic epoxyed the bish
but the rubbers keeps poppin off the bish..

Maybe you need a new bish....

put a screw in it from the side, you wont see it unless you turn it upside down, it wont come out then because it can't

Or you could try lubing the bottom hole of the rubber so that it will pull off of the studs like they are supposed to.
