How to clean staining off chrome trim

I cleaned a 1970 Volkswagen Bug bumper that had rust spreading all over the surface.
As long as the rust is "surface rust", ... Use chrome polish & a soft BRASS wire brush.

Old school real chrome over metal…it’s way different than the fake chrome over plastic that’s on the new rigs. The stuff is so thin. I don’t think it’s even chrome.

Depending on the cost of replacement, ...and personal time on your hands, there is a multi-part chrome paint process you can do yourself, if you can spray...
