My mother in-law visited Havana a couple of years ago and and brought it back for me. I can’t say it was a great smoke either.
I had 6 that came from a Marine's diplomatic pouch--cool story--story was better then the smoke lol. Smoked 1 gave the rest away. Best way to tell a real Cohiba is the paper band. Cohiba used lousy quality paper--cheap.

So, the Torque Management and a few other things, and people, got me thinking. A buddy in Nebraska that tunes and is actually slowly and periodically working towards starting up a tuning side gig offered to lend me his HP Tuners MPVI2. In addition to shipping, I'd have to invest the credits into something I'd only be borrowing. That all could go towards purchasing my own MPVI2. He mentioned using the next stimulus to buy my own MPVI2. As usual, with just about any car-related purchase, I started my wavering. He knows I have a terrible habit of getting in my own way, so he took the liberty to order it for me. Literally sent me a screenshot of the order form with his billing info and my address. He said to pay him back whenever and however fast I wanted. I needed that push. lol

So, I now have an MPVI2 with Pro Features and PRO LINK on the way.

Got to the track around 10:30 this morning. Ambient was 55°, just like when I made my baseline runs last March. My best at that time was 15.656 @ 89.05. First pass as-is, stomping it with traction control on, it went 14.698 @ 94.61. So I started out really happy. I got three more runs in with about 20 minutes of cool-down between each (hood up). Second run was with all TC nannies off and slightly pedaling it, and it was just slower all around. Third run, I lined up with a Suburban that I assumed was a 2010+ and had the 6L80. I believe he was cammed. He ran again then left as I was cooling down so I never got to chat him up. For that race, I decided to actually try to cut the lights so my RT was much better than runs 1 and 2. Stomping it with the nannies off, it surprised me with a little tire scratch. I won that one, but he was gaining. That big bastard had some top end, or maybe it was his choice of wheel and tire that hurt his launch. Reading the time slip tells the story as he was over 1.5 MPH faster at the 1/8 and almost 3 MPH at the 1/4. I really wish I could've checked him out. For the last run, I had cooled for about 30 mins and ambient was around 57°. Stomped it at the last amber and it scratched the tires noticeably harder than the previous run. That one was the best of the day with a 14.672 @ 94.69. Oh, I didn't stall it on any runs. Playing with it on the street, I've tried to stall it but Torque Management kills it badly. So I didn't stall it at the track.

So, I gained a second with the mods, which is what I was hoping for. I'm satisfied.

It's not much different than launching it on the street, and I'm quite sure you've done that a few times. Make it happen! Oh- bring a friend that knows how to operate a camera so you can post vid(s).

Copy and pasting this from another thread where I aired my grievances with trying to tune this turd:

so where are you at with the credits? fpcm? did you buy a credit for all of them or trying to just do ecm and tcm?

I just bought two credits almost a month ago since I knew that was all I needed. The TCM is built into the ECM in mine, so whatever it takes to tune the ECM (two credits) is what it takes to tune the TCM. Apparently, for mine, the FSCM is the only other module that can be tuned. I didn't know that when reading my current tune, I was supposed to uncheck the FSCM so it would be like that module doesn't exist and HPT wouldn't keep me from writing to the ECM without a credit for the FSCM. I don't need to modify anything with the FSCM. According to my account on HPT's site, I still have two credits, so maybe it didn't apply them. Last I recalled seeing, it looked to me like it applied the two credits to a vehicle that has an FSCM that the tuner wanted to tune in addition to the ECM. What I needed was to apply the credits to a vehicle that "didn't have" an FSCM.

I'll try reading my current tune again, but leaving the FSCM out of it, saving that as my "baseline", making those small changes I tried today then attempt again to write that tune. Hopefully, it'll go through and apply the two credits to that to finalize/lock/whatever itself to my Tahoe and I can move on to writing any time as normal. Crappy case- I'm forced to buy that extra credit for something I'll never mess with. Worst case, I have to purchase two more credits to "re-license" my Tahoe, but with the FSCM taken outta the mix.

Before I proceed with that, I'm trying to learn all the stuff I missed which put me here in the first place, now that I'm aware of the missed stuff. I'm trying to do so before bothering the people on the forums with all these noob questions that I know have been brought up a million times already. I started combing through the stickies but haven't found anything pertinent. Most everything is how to get started, which is pretty much just what's outlined step-by-step in the quick start guide that came in the box. I followed that to a "T" and had no problems. Any instructions I've found from there seem to skip straight to writing modified tunes after the vehicle has already been licensed and communicating, etc.


for the logs everytime you stop a log it should auto save to ...... HP tuners > VCM Scanner > Logs. if you open the hptuners> logs and tunes folder then there will only be the sample one in there

Sounds like my typical problem with computers- I never know where to find files once I save them. I'll follow your file path and see if I have the four logs I thought I made.


after you stop the log if you want it somewhere else do a save as on it.

**** no. I ain't changing anything from it's default setting unless I have to. If my logs did in fact auto-save to where you said, then that's where I'm leaving them and I'll go there to find them.


unless you are using the mpvi2 and running it with just the dongle plugged in and then transfering to computer - i dont know how it saves on the dongle . i still use a mpvi1

I'm not getting that fancy with it yet. No need. I wanted to see how it looked and worked on the screen first. You know- to see if I got something cool like a big flashing "DANGER TO MANIFOLD" message during a hit. No sense in having a 17" monitor if I'm not gonna look at it, right? I did connect it via Bluetooth to my laptop with no problem, but neither the Editor nor Scanner would find it. I'll mess with this later once I've established a functioning system through the USB cable.

Bluetooth, fancy. Once you figure out the hard shit, I’ll probably send mine off for the upgraded interface. As always, you’re my test mule:)

also, @Scottydoggs you mentioned modules a while back. The original interface doesn’t seem to have that option. Is the 1 credit vs 2 credits what you were talking about? Example...he buys 2 credits, he can tune trans and engine. If he just buys the 1 credit, is that engine only? The original interface works with application keys. I have to update that key when I buy more credits. The newer one doesn’t use the application key. So what’s the process after purchasing new credits? Does it automatically recognize that or do you have to do something else the validate the credits prior to writing the tune?
