If I'm going to do this updated valve cover, what all would I need? Would the new cover come with a new gasket? Anything to clean inside?

I don't really want to tear into this as it's my daily and can't afford to be without it. I'm ok with cleaning inside and parts, but really replacing other stuff is not on the priority list.

I bought a gm one off rockauto. It came with everything including bolts. Part 12570427

Feeling like a failure everywhere else in my life at the moment, I decided I'd do something "big" (to me, anyway) to actually feel accomplished. The Universe gave me a big "**** you".

I attempted to do some small and harmless changes to the Tahoe's tune to pop my "change and write" cherry. To correct my 1-2MPH speedometer discrepancy, I measured the tire circumference by duct-taping speaker wire to the concrete and backing over it, then wrapping the wire around the tire and marking where the end met. I corrected the number in HPT (18mm difference). I then unchecked the boxes for anything relating to the EVAP codes. I tried writing those changes I made to the tune and it prompted me to apply my credits. I purchased two a long time ago since HPT's site and EVERYONE else said it takes two. It gave me the option to tune the ECM (requiring two credits) and/or the FSCM (requiring one credit). I checked the box for the ECM and checked "Do not license" for the FSCM and tried to continue. Apparently, unless I'm misunderstanding what I found on HPT's site, it's too late. It's like HPT has already applied my credits/licenses to a vehicle that has that extra module and it won't let me proceed until I buy an extra credit. I thought maybe I could just re-read the current tune but uncheck that FSCM module, make my changes, then try again. I don't know. Maybe I'll try again next month after I cool down. I was too pissed to find that surprise so I moved on to trying to log some scans. Tried a test one with it idling in my driveway and I swear I saw it say it was saving the file as "scan..." after I clicked the "stop" icon. So, thinking it was just that simple, I went out to the highway to log a WOT 0-100 hit and a WOT 50-80 hit, clicking "stop" and "start" between each. Feeling accomplished, I went home and found that the only file saved is the "SAMPLE" one that it comes with.

So, now I'm ready to break shit and post an very slightly used MPVI2 for sale.

lol, sounds like me trying to log some stuff in EFI live with the autocal connected my tablet, can't made heads or tails of that shit  I can find the screen that should show the transmission data but can't figure out to make it record it, nor sort it out for playback. So I said screw it and put it away

you are a failure, but we'll get thru this.

so where are you at with the credits? fpcm? did you buy a credit for all of them or trying to just do ecm and tcm?

for the logs everytime you stop a log it should auto save to ...... HP tuners > VCM Scanner > Logs. if you open the hptuners> logs and tunes folder then there will only be the sample one in there

after you stop the log if you want it somewhere else do a save as on it.

unless you are using the mpvi2 and running it with just the dongle plugged in and then transfering to computer - i dont know how it saves on the dongle . i still use a mpvi1

Now that I've vented with my previous post then distracted myself by going for a drive to pick up my kid and scoring a commercial-grade Kee edger from my rich neighbor's trash (looks great and has good compression, probably just needs cleaning), I'll move this over to my build thread.

Thanks for the support, homies.

You don’t log or do anything in the vehicle with the Autocal connected to a tablet or laptop except flash a bcm with a bcm tune from BT Deisel. You log and program with just the Autocal. The transfer of files between the tablet and Autocal is the only time those two need to be connected, and you don’t do that in the vehicle or connected to the vehicle. Make sense?

I wish I could just crack open a cold one and make it all fade away!
Maybe not fade, but would blurry work?

no, lol you can log and record data to efi live with the autocal connected to the obd port and then a usb cable to the autocal and pc and running the efi live software (works as a pass-thru device), I have watched the live data this way which is pretty cool but just can't figure out the settings to capture specific data and then replay, too many options and boxes to check, I just haven't played with it enough yet to figure it all out.
people tune with efi live just like they do with hp tuners, you have to pay for it just as well.
efi makes the autocal, bb just puts there name on it (and it's possible it may have some specific firmware of some kind as well)
https://www.efilive.com/v8-scan-and-tune
***edit it says right on the linked page that tuners can make there own brand name for the autocals and select options, which is what bb does.

More than you know! Simply not feeling alone in it kept me off the ledge. It kept a laptop from being spiked on my driveway, too.

When you're already feeling down so you move on to do something that you're sure will bring you up, then that becomes a kick while you're down so you look to others to find answers but they're too far ahead to even be reached...

So, just having someone take a moment to listen and attempt anything at all means a whole lot.

idk if you have figured this out yet or not but my avalanche had a hole in the line that is ran inside the harness. I bought a line kit for a nbs and replaced it
I wanted to check it when I got home today but unpacking took longer than expected and then it started to snow again. Going to have to figure out what fuse it is and disable it for now. I did like the way it sat with the load on it. It was like the rear was dropped an inch or so.

when you order a tune from bb for say a vehicle like my 18 silverado, you have to record the ecm lock code with the autocal, then you have to send that code to bb they in turn send it to efi in new zealand and then have to wait for efi to unlock the code and send it back to bb and for them to send the code to you so you can unlock the ecm to install the tunes.
this also why the tuners are not able to do the 2019+ vehicles yet the ecm is locked and there is no unlock figured out yet, at least this was the case as of a few months ago but there working on it.
