Well aware lol, was just curious if yours had it. They didn't run this pump for that many years but yours obviously didn't have one or you would have seen it hanging off the engine.
I was unaware, but my dad says "your brakes are hydraulic" and I thought to myself "well, duh" but that must have been what he was alluding to.

Yes, they are hydraulic with vacuum assist. Normally, the engine intake creates enough vacuum to assist the brakes, but with AFM/DFM in some circumstances, it was not. So GM added a vacuum pump to create additional vacuum.

Ok, so there's a cheap solution to disabling Engine 1/2@$$ / Cylinder Confusion.

Wonder if there's a better / other use for that vacuum pump ... ?

There's the culprit. Missing some metal, and the main body measures .839" dia, measures .844" dia at the roller. Just enough to not come out of the bore.
