Next thing on my to do list for both vehicles. Any great ideas on how to clean all existing oil scum out of intake without taking it off? Also both the Esky and Z still have cats and I don't want to plug them all up with the soot

There is no easy way to clean a intake without risk of hydro lock with out removing it.
Besides, its probably time to check your knock sensors for rust and or replace them.
Pop it off, clean it out and check knock sensors and replace gaskets.

agreed. my old tahoe never ran better than after changing the intake gaskets. just be mindful of shit falling into the intake ports when removing the manifold. can be nasty in there.

Since winter is hear for most of us this got me thinking. Will these catch cans freeze? When I drain mine the bottom is all water. Anyone experienced this or have any thoughts or comments?

doubtful. the fluid will be an oil/water mix, so just like antifreeze it will effect the freezing point of the mixture.

Well the oil and water do not mix and if sitting long enough the water will separate from the oil and yes is can freeze, I believe the system is open enough and that the can is rigid enough to with stand the water from expanding outwards and deforming the can. Long story short, once ur engine heats up the ice should thaw and ur catch can will be fine. Of course the more full it is the more likely there would be cause for damage so make sure you don't let it get overfull in the winter months. Also the colder it gets the more condensation you are going to find in your catch can so definitely worth keeping an eye on but if you are emptying the catch can every oil change I am most certain you will be perfectly fine.

heads up i changed a guys unit with the catchcans.com one and in 3k miles picked up double the amount. not all catchcans pick up the same amount of fluid just a heads up. This has been the case on also a few trailblazer ss's ive done which got switched to the catchcans.com version

Took a pic last night of what has accumulated in my "catch can" since I put it on 36 hours before. More than I would've expected. Only drove it maybe 30-40 miles in that time.
