Took care of the Safety Recall - Front Passenger Airbag Takata Inflator - Priority Group 9 at the local GMC dealer.

Great service, nice facility and done in about 2 hours. Asked him to replace the cracked dash while they were in there and we both laughed .

Had some maintenance done at my buddy's shop recently.

-New serpentine belt.
-New A/C belt and tensioner.
-New power brake booster and master cylinder.
-Replaced transmission lines from transmission to cooler.
-Removed transmission pan, cleaned magnet (nothing out of the ordinary spotted), changed gasket and installed new filter. Added 6 quarts of Dexron VI fluid.

This is what I was looking at maybe for a project with my son …. But again the mechanic said don’t do it.

It was in very rough shape all over even though the price was attractive.

Had that square body smell.

That's a good candidate for a full frame off restoration. LMC Truck, Brothers Truck would be your friends to zero time that old gal. Kid would love it too, memories for a lifetime.

Yes FLL. Agreed all the above ^^. It is tempting, but that one might be a bit too much work, at least for right now.

There are a few other larger ticket items that the missus may not take kindly to me grabbing that right now if you know what I mean. At least she has her DD.

I've seen some nicer, less rusted, already partially modded with normal maintenance done versions out West in the same price range. They keep popping up all the time in that 67-86 range and not stupid $$ or in as rough a shape as that one is. Vision, timing and money. The Infinity stones have not all aligned yet after our Blip.

68,700 miles

Took the Suburban to Speed and Truck World here in
Fort Lauderdale to get the suspension parts installed that @07Burb had compiled and sent with the truck.

They installed the following parts:

- Belltech coilovers Part no. 5403-001 621
- McGaughy’s rear springs (Part no. 0307) with shock extenders
Kit 30014
- wired in the resistors to keep the rear auto ride 100% functional.

Being the wife’s daily driver, we could not get too aggressive with the lowered stance aka slammed and zero fender gap like my NBS was, so this is a “mild” drop to reduce that fender gap a bit.

I can see the difference in the rear and it shouldn’t spark any alarm with the wife. We did close the rear gap by about 2 inches.

My NBS was sitting right around 32.5/33” on 24s with a 3/5-6 drop. Big difference.

The auto ride airs up like it should with no error code on the DIC. After driving it around before giving it back to the wife (who hasn’t said anything) it feels more planted in the rear. Not so bouncy. Of course zero rub on 20s. I would love to see it lower, but I’m pretty happy with it thus far. Will see how it rides over the next week. Maybe I’ll adjust the front coilovers down 0.5-1” after the rear springs have a chance to settle in. But, we will see. Still love the long body travel on the roads.

The OEM equipment that came off looked in pretty good shape for almost 9 years old and 68k miles. The shop replaced the rear sway bar end links while they were under there. One was rusted and busted in half before they hit it with a wrench. They threw those parts in at no charge.

Those McGaughy's springs ride great, MUCH better than the super squishy Belltech "3/4" springs (which are really a 4/5). I had them in mine briefly but it wasn't as low as the Belltech's (especially since they're 1" lower than advertised).

I’ve still got some driving to do when I can wrangle the keys from the wife.

Initial impressions seem as you mention - more firm and less bounce and even though not as low as I would like , it still knocks out the rake , closes the rear wheel gap with a subtle drop and should not create any wife driving challenges around town while adding some upgraded components to the long body.
