Brake Hose Confusion -- Are 2013-2014 Rear Frame-to-Axle Hoses Different Than 2007-2012?

Y'all,

I am about to swap out the six original brake flex hoses on my '13 Tahoe LTZ (2WD with the standard axle [not an AXN/14-bolt/9.5"]) and the application info from various manufacturers has me questioning what will fit for the pair of frame-to-axle hoses. Many manufacturers/sites only show '07-'12 frame-to-axle hoses for the standard axle. IMPORTANT: I understand that the frame-to-axle hoses for the standard axle and the AXN/14-bolt/9.5" are different.

* Centric/Stoptech does not show any frame-to-axle hoses for a 2013 with the standard axle; if you go to the page for the rear set for their GMT900 braided stainless, it says "2007 - 2014 Cadillac Escalade, 2007 - 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche, 2007 - 2007 Chevrolet Suburban 1500, 2007 - 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2007 - 2008 GMC Yukon, 2007 - 2007 GMC Yukon XL 1500."

* The GMPartsDirect page for a '13 only lists 9.5 frame-to-axle hoses (go down to "Related Parts").

* The TireRack page for the Goodridge stainless set lists 4-piece for "light duty" and 6-piece for "Excl light duty."

* NAPA shows the standard axle frame-to-axle hoses as fitting 2007-2014.

So, three questions:

1) Are the frame-to-axle hoses actually different for the 2013-2014 standard axle?

2) If they are different, what manufacturers offer frame-to-axle hoses for the 2013-2014 standard axle? My research up to this point only shows the NAPA hoses.

3) Will the longer* AXN/14-bolt/9.5" frame-to-axle hoses safely fit? How much longer are they, and* are there any differences in attachment?

I maybe comparing a 2013 AXN (escalade) hose with my 2012 small diff.

If there is a difference on the '13-14 models, I would hope they moved the connection from over the crossmember, because it's difficult to see or reach in there. Crowfoot on an extension was the only way I saw to reach it..

And I still haven't changed my center hoses, so if you find a good angle to get at it, please let me know!

I show all hoses being the same between years.

I bought the AXN jounce hoses for my 9.5" axle swap and did not use them in the interest of time. It's been a year since and no issues with the original lines for the 8.6".

I bought the AXN jounce hoses for my 9.5" axle swap and did not use them in the interest of time. It's been a year since and no issues with the original lines for the 8.6".

OK, so it seems the AXN hoses are the shorter ones, not the longer ones (NAPA agrees on this point). Which says the longer standard axle hoses will work with the AXN, but I suspect the AXN hoses will not work with the standard axle.

I guess I'll have to go with braided stainless for the four corners and standard hoses for the frame-to-axle.

That's a good idea in general, but in this instance it'll be logistically easier for me to buy a few different sets at once and then return the ones that won't work.

That's how you get banned from places like Amazon. Seriously, they regularly do this to folks who return a high percentage of orders, and it's usually women returning clothing. I've returned maybe three or four things to Amazon because they were absolute crap, or were disgusting (in particular, one was a clearly used baby ear thermometer with body substances on it).

I rarely do it this way because I obsessively research what I want, often to the point of "paralysis by analysis." In this case, though, the information seems sparse enough that I don't want to subject myself to doing that, plus the lift I will be using is 35 miles away from home and I won't have alternate transportation to/at/from that location. If I were to try to take existing hoses to Summit Racing to compare the braided stainless sets in-store, that'd be ~100 miles one way (Gainesville, GA to McDonough, GA) through Atlanta.

Why braided lines? For looks or durability or because of availability?

I don't care about looks, and I'm keeping the Tahoe as stock looking as possible anyhow. I like the improvement in feel, which has been noticeable with other cars I've installed stainless braided lines in (including one where the OE style were fairly new, so it's not solely an unrealistic old vs. new comparison). There's no difference in availability (NAPA has all the OE style in stock just a few miles away).
