Engine dying while driving. No check engine light. No codes. It has been making a sound lately that sounds like a bad pulley bering or a loose shroud. Can't find it yet even with my mechanic stethoscope. I changed the idler pulley with no change. It was low on coolant, I put some in, died while testing. What are your thoughts?

start testing battery, battery cables and grounds.

So will it start and stay running as long as ur on the throttle? Pulley might be a different issue.

does it do it more when it’s hot and if so when you take your gas cap off after driving does it take in a lot of air at the cap

So far it is not battery, alternator, fuses. Dash light up but nothing happens when full turn. Im not thinking starter or wire because that is not in the equation when rolling. Im thinking ignition switch but more likely the camshaft position sensor. Could explain the strange new sound.
Could be the coolant temperature sensor. Haven't looked into if it n But now it won't start haha! Here we go again. Didn't feel like the fuel pump because it dies instantly but Ill pull my fuel line without removing pressure. It's not bad when you are expecting it.
So right now I am ordering a camshaft position sensor.
Thoughts? Ill keep you posted.

"Dash light up but nothing happens when full turn" explain this better
the dash being goofy and engine dying points to a electrical problem

Be sure to do the crankshaft position relearn (CASE) after changing the CKP sensor.
For preventative mx I just changed the crankshaft position sensor in my 07 6.2 w/213k miles and there was NO need to do a relearn.
Of course I had the battery disconnected when I did this.
Same goes for the camshaft position sensor.

Right. Usually it's not needed. But some people have had random misfires (P0300) and doing the CASE relearn can cure (or prevent) that. It's easy and recommended by GM after a sensor change, so why not do it?

UPDATE. The problem was due to a faulty fuel pump ground to the chassis beneath the driver door. Problem solved.

The ground wire was false hope. My guess is it gave it enough power to fire up 2 last times. I am gearing up to cut a hole in the floorboard to change the fuel pump. I will try to get pics. On another note MY TAHOE SSV HAS NO FUEL PUMP RELAY OR FUSE #20 IN THE FUSE BOX. empty where they should be. Worked fine. HAS ANYBODY SEEN THIS?

Do we know that it's a fuel delivery problem? Before surgery, I would suggest monitoring the desired (or commanded) fuel pressure with a scanner, and comparing that to actual fuel pressure. Both should be visible in Live Data on a bidirectional scanner. Graphing the PIDs would be even better so you can see dropouts or issues.

Depending on the RPO code, JL1 will have a Fuel Pump/Trailer Brake Control Module. Without JL1, it will have a /Fuel Pump Flow Control Module. Location shown below for a 2011 RWD Tahoe.

It's not that difficult to drop the tank instead cutting through the floorboard. I know there are people who swear by the shortcut, but many don't advise it. YMMV

I went out to see what it takes to remove the middle seat. I was done with the fuel pump swap in about an hour and a half. This access panel was very easy to create with a grinder and cut off wheel. If you do the same take note of the wire harness and fuel hoses, air return hose I'd imagine. Don't go deep. I didnt hit anything. Problem is the fuel pump is ruled out as the problem. But I don't hear the fuel pump. Which is good. I am going to inspect my starter circuit and reground the starter. I found out that in my truck, if the fuel pump circuit is not working it kills the starter circuit. I have not field tested that. There may be a fuel pump relay mounted in the engine bay, I will look. I am going to inspect, and test if I can, my fuel pump control module and contacts.
Most important have to figure out how this is wired without a starter relay or a fuse in port #20. Whatever they did there is probably now the fualt. There's wires all over in my Boarder Patrol truck.
Ill keep you posted and Ill watch for your tips. What do you think?

To me the lock ring doesn't look like it's on all the way. I can't tell if the hooks on the tank mount are fully capturing the ring. Not having a good seal at the pump could cause evap issues.

That sounds similar to my problem, engine shuts off dead while driving, no running rough or weak beforehand like a lack of fuel, and nothing happens when turning the key to start. Mine starts right up like nothing happened within 5-10 minutes of cooling off. It throws code P0601, memory check sum error, and often clears the code itself. It's getting worse lately so I have ordered a new ecm from Flashmasters on ebay.

Out of curiosity, what does your scanner tell you
what control module or connection actually triggered that P0601 code?

I still have my problem, it stalled with a cel in line at taco bell today and I had to have the cooks come out and help me push it. It always starts right up like nothing after a few minutes of punching the relay box.
