Been to the track with it yet?

Nope, no track times....I'd imagine maybe a high 13 with perfect conditions....before this truck I had a full bolt on (stock cam) NNBS CC 6.2 Silverado that felt stronger than this truck with the Cammed 6.0...some it was because the Silverado was lighter and also had 3.73 rear vs 3.42 in my Avalanche....when I get this LS3 broken in I will prob make a trip out to the track just to see what runs, hopefully mid 13's

Yep, they're back. What made you switch from the 2011 CC to the Avalanche?

A couple reasons, one of the main ones was 2013 was the last year of the Avalanche so they were offering DEEP discounts that were hard to pass up (I was able to get in a new truck with a lower payment than my 2011), also I prefer the interior of the Avalanche (my 2011 had the Truck Dash not the LTZ Dash), the midgate is very useful, the Avalanche also has the Factory storage bins in the bed and a factory bed cover, coil spring suspension in the rear vs leafs meant a much more comfortable ride...thats pretty much it, both have been great trucks for me

Looks great Chris. Couple of questions if you don't mind? Why are camshaft manufacturers offering cams made from different materials? I do not recollect this being offered when I used to build engines near 30 years ago. How long have you been racing and what are your thoughts on engine breathers versus catch cans? I'd never heard of the latter until last year.

I'd say you made a good choice then with the Avalanche, those reasons would have moved me to do it too but the power of the 6.2 is what I'm sure lead to this project!

Working on cars/trucks has been a hobby of mine since growing up. Ive been tinkering for about 15 years....

As far as the cam material question....The only cam manufacturer that I know of that offers different materials is Cam Motion, I went with their 8620 Carburized Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum Camshaft simply bc they told me it would be ground in house. If I went with a 5150 Core there was a possibility I could get a Comp Cam core. I was trying to avoid this as I have read of several people having an issue with Cam Whine (search YouTube) due to poorly polished lobes. I believe TSP and Cam Motion both CNC their cams in house.

On Catch Cans vs Breathers, I have always used Catch Cans on my set ups. A lot of people swear by Breathers but they both seem to be effective in preventing oil vapor from entering the intake. To me its just easier to empty a can every oil change than worry about changing or cleaning another filter...Ill be going with an Elite Engineering Catch Can for the LS3

And yes I definitely miss the power of my old 6.2 truck!
