i searched.

If I replace the factory cassette/CD in a Bose system are there any complications with the factory Bose speakers specifically the center console sub? I want to run a multimedia receiver with CarPlay and want to make sure I have enough power for the Bose speakers. Also is there a crossover outside of the factory head unit or do I need to worry about one to pass signal to tweeter and door mid?

Related: do these systems have a sub in the rear?

It's not too bad to swap the factory stereo and use one of the recommended wiring harnesses such as the PAC RP5-GM11 to connect to the factory wiring. Only thing is that most people experience a little feedback/interference when nothing is playing but it isn't too bad. As far as the factory 6-disc changer I'm not sure.

What does the Bose console sub look like? I have the Bose speakers, no head unit and no rear or console sub.. Curious...

Is the typical 20w rms you get from a headunit enough to power the Bose speakers? Does this also power the sub?

A lot of people with the Bose system just upgrade the headunit and that provides enough power to give an improvement to the existing Bose speakers and sub.

That's what I did. I wouldn't mind a bit more sub. I've got a bazooka tube that's been in my basement for years .I may throw that in.

What is the power rating of the stock head unit and is the signal to the sub speaker level or is there a line level wire to it?

Doing some google research netted the following: 4x25 + 1x50 and speaker level signal to sub with a low pass xover.

I believe both is related to the Bose Luxury amp not the Premium in lower models of GM trucks.

“- Amplifier is 150 watts (4 x 25 watts = 100, 50 watts for woofer).
- The front and rear speakers are 25 watts each
- Woofer is in a 7 1/2 liter bass box. 5 1/4 inch woofer in bass box. -”

And

“The radio/preamp does not have any "sub outputs"... It sends full range rear and front left and right audio signals to the amp and the amp uses its built-in cross over to determine which frequencies should go to the sub and which go to the speakers. There is no high-frequency cross over for the tweeters. Bose just wires the tweeters in parallel with the front door speakers and then puts a capaciter on the tweeter to kinda give it a "poor man's cross over". The capacitor roughly cuts lower frequencies so the tweeter doesnt blow. The sub on the other hand, as I said before, DOES actually get a "real" cross over that is internal to the amp. ”
