Factory Subwoofer install

Hello All,

I have recently purchased a 2003 Yukon Denali (from the original buyer) and to my luck, aside from a few small electrical issues (currently being dealt with) the audio system is untouched, and due to the nature of the owners, the audio has largely not been abused, the 23 year old sound system still sounds good with (at least to my ears) no distortion or issues from the factory bose speakers or amp. My question is this.. it does not have a factory sub in the rear. If I were to find a factory enclosure and plastic interior panel with the holes punched for the sub, is it a direct install (or rather, is the factory wiring already in the harness for the sub whether its used or not) and if not, apart from getting an aftermarket radio and harness, what would my options be? Thanks in advance. I'm just looking for options. I only paid 3k for it, and it has 227k on it. I know going forward I will be upgrading the speakers at some point, but my question right now is just for the factory sub.

Fairly sure 2003+ the subwoofer was moved to in the center console. My 2004 Bose premium has it there.

I also added a slim 8" sub in a 2002 box with a secondary amp and line out converter. It didn't do much for me. The install isn't direct as there is no wiring back there and the bolt for the spare tools is in the way.

Now the MTX 2x12 box I have in the box definitely hits hard.

I know with the Bose the sub is definitely in the center console--it acts as a type of sub box.

If you have bucket chair 2nd row seats, you could put a sub box with at least a 10" sub in it between the chairs.

Alright, thank you for the info. Your install looks good though! I wasnt sure where it was located in mine. I just figured it possibly didnt have one since the grille in the rear panel wasnt punched out for one. I haven't dug into the console yet aside from cleaning out the previous owners' gunk left behind inside the console and rear cup holders. I am happy though that overall the interior and audio system wasnt thrashed. The radio buttons do show visual wear, same with the rear heater/audio controls in the back of the rear console, but I cant complain about the overall "stock" sound being 23 years old.

Yes, I do have the rear buckets, but also have the 3rd row as well.
