Public service announcement for those doing DoD delete

Just an FYI, if you're doing a DoD delete, and you're using a non DoD valley cover, you should NOT also use the plugs for the oil ports. I was paranoid that the seals aren't good enough so I plugged them just to find out that the non DoD valley cover wouldn't fit properly now. This was my fix for this. I actually think maybe this is better... But I'm not expert

Well, first thing you need to do is actually install the plugs almost flush with the block if not flush.

Mine had a lip and the instructions specifically said they should not be hammered flush.

Yeah with a lip around them you would never get them flush. I have never had any with a lip personally.

Never seen plugs with a lip before, I drive mine in a tad further than flush with a punch

you guys bought the bearings, I can only imagine this is a kit with shoulders to stop you from cracking the block.

to be honest you'll never find me pounding a steel wedge into my aluminum block. but that's just me and I know everyone seems to do it.

They should be installed flush, or below. I wouldn't use any with a lip. Purchase the ones that are machined for a proper interference fit. (Which is why I don't just assemble roller bearings to save a couple dollars)

My plugs are aluminum and flush.

then I take it you didn't buy the wheel bearings?

to be honest I've never looked very deep into this. only what I've seen talked about and thought everyone was pounding wheel bearings
