Just an FYI, if you're doing a DoD delete, and you're using a non DoD valley cover, you should NOT also use the plugs for the oil ports. I was paranoid that the seals aren't good enough so I plugged them just to find out that the non DoD valley cover wouldn't fit properly now. This was my fix for this. I actually think maybe this is better... But I'm not expert

Mine had a lip and the instructions specifically said they should not be hammered flush.

Yeah with a lip around them you would never get them flush. I have never had any with a lip personally.
