deangrell - MTX makes a Thunderform that goes under the center console. You can find them on ebay for between 200 and 350 depending on if you want it amped or not. As for making a replica, I probably should have done that. It works great with a 10" memphis as you don't need much in the way of cu-ft and they make a 3" deep sub. I think this box is around .6 cuft which is about 66% of what the Polk DXI104 calls for. It flutters a little bit but it gets pretty low. I cranked up some Boom Boom Pow by the black eyed peas and holy hell, I felt like I was 16 again. It popped my gas cap open.
Sounds great with my Disturbed disc too.
I'd be happy to give you some instruction on doing this yourself, unfortunately, mine is all siliconed to the metal and wrapped in dynamat so pulling it out at this point is going to be all but impossible.
Made a new grille today that I am much happier with also. I should have my adapter here in the morning so hopefully that takes care of my problems. I did notice that all of a sudden that annoying power-down whine is all but gone. it's still there a tiny bit but it's very quiet. now if the uber-loud turn signal and door chimes would just mute a bit I'd be happy. Unfortunately for me, Normal is as low as it goes and it's loud! I did see something about asking your dealer to program (something) to the Bose N70-YQ7 or some god awful thing. I'll have to see if I can find that again and figure out what it's for.
Modded: I hooked up a leftover 4" speaker I had to the front speaker outputs from the deck. I cut them from their destination and went off the back of the deck. No audio at all. Put a meter on them and got .017V so I clipped an old pair of RCA's and ran those to the polk amp and I got sound which lends credence to those wires actually serving as high level inputs to an amp, somewhere. My guess is either the drivers seat or the center console. So far I have been too lazy to figure out which. Ok, not lazy...I've spent 3 solid days in my garage building door templates, troubleshooting and building and rebuilding the box and grille.
So just out of time I guess. I hope tomorrow is the end of my journey. If Not, I may just rip out the amp, ship the box to deangrell and give up... yes, seriously.
Off to bed.
Oh, I still have to install my blacked out GMC logo on my grille yet. Ugh. I haven't even opened the box yet. the guy might have sent me a box of cracker jacks for all I know.
