deangrell - MTX makes a Thunderform that goes under the center console. You can find them on ebay for between 200 and 350 depending on if you want it amped or not. As for making a replica, I probably should have done that. It works great with a 10" memphis as you don't need much in the way of cu-ft and they make a 3" deep sub. I think this box is around .6 cuft which is about 66% of what the Polk DXI104 calls for. It flutters a little bit but it gets pretty low. I cranked up some Boom Boom Pow by the black eyed peas and holy hell, I felt like I was 16 again. It popped my gas cap open. :)
Sounds great with my Disturbed disc too.

I'd be happy to give you some instruction on doing this yourself, unfortunately, mine is all siliconed to the metal and wrapped in dynamat so pulling it out at this point is going to be all but impossible.

Made a new grille today that I am much happier with also. I should have my adapter here in the morning so hopefully that takes care of my problems. I did notice that all of a sudden that annoying power-down whine is all but gone. it's still there a tiny bit but it's very quiet. now if the uber-loud turn signal and door chimes would just mute a bit I'd be happy. Unfortunately for me, Normal is as low as it goes and it's loud! I did see something about asking your dealer to program (something) to the Bose N70-YQ7 or some god awful thing. I'll have to see if I can find that again and figure out what it's for.

Modded: I hooked up a leftover 4" speaker I had to the front speaker outputs from the deck. I cut them from their destination and went off the back of the deck. No audio at all. Put a meter on them and got .017V so I clipped an old pair of RCA's and ran those to the polk amp and I got sound which lends credence to those wires actually serving as high level inputs to an amp, somewhere. My guess is either the drivers seat or the center console. So far I have been too lazy to figure out which. Ok, not lazy...I've spent 3 solid days in my garage building door templates, troubleshooting and building and rebuilding the box and grille. :) So just out of time I guess. I hope tomorrow is the end of my journey. If Not, I may just rip out the amp, ship the box to deangrell and give up... yes, seriously.

Off to bed.

Oh, I still have to install my blacked out GMC logo on my grille yet. Ugh. I haven't even opened the box yet. the guy might have sent me a box of cracker jacks for all I know.

That means I am wrong. But I wonder where the hell it is, because I know for a fact it is not under the console or seats.

Appreciate the info VikingFan, is the glass work all that hard? I can do the MDF part with no problem.

Also, I have a 9-passenger tahoe so I don't have a console :(

Modded: we are gonna find out. I got the GM1416 today and it didn't work. Despite the fact the PAC website shows the 2007 Yukon as being a match. I got the package and it only shows a handful of GM cars (G6, HHR, Cobalt) The pinouts aren't even close. In fact, when you plug it in, the dash lights up, and the left is the right and the left doesn't work at all, plus all the volume is gone which further makes me believe the deck is only putting out voltage, not audio. Guess I wasted $22 in overnight shipping for nothing. Kinda PO'd about that. Nay, REALLY PO'd. So, I'll be taking the center console out after I run to the PO and mail some stuff I sold on ebay on Tuesday. I kept meaning to ship it out but my truck was tore apart. :)

I could rewire the PAC but... There HAS to be an amp in there somewhere, the question is, where. Maybe the dealer will tell me.

On the bright side, I did get the box re-glassed and got the new grille made and put the back half of the truck all back together.

Sorry about that man but atleast the box is coming togther good.
If there is an amp I am pretty sure it would be behind the dash somewhere because the console and seats do not contain it I've checked before).
www.the12volt.com has some wiring schematics for the 07 Tahoe/Yukon.

Well Modded, I think you were right. I called the dealer and gave them my VIN. They confirmed I had an amp under the console. Fast forward 20 minutes and I had the console out. No f'n amp. So I gave up and ran the amp wires directly to the rear speakers, well to the harness inside the truck at each door. Stupid molex plug prevents you from getting to the rear doors.

So I have no idea.

Had to wire the rear speakers in series with the fronts until the other amp gets here. Sure makes a big difference. Still gets loud but really lacks the mid-bass it had when it was just two speakers at 4 ohms. Funny what half the power will do. :)

I'll get some pics of the new grille up tomorrow. I took the wife out for some steak dinner since she hadn't seen me at all this week aside from Thanksgiving.

On a side note. the bass response on the low end is fantastic with that polk 10 and that teeny little box. The higher end (90-120hz) leaves something to be desired. A good set of components really picks up well there. Well, as long as you don't have to wire them in series til your other amp shows up. lol

Another interesting side note, if you have the center console out, the rear speakers don't work at all. Kinda figured the rear controls just bypassed the outs to the rear speakers but they "connect" them too.

Once I can talk myself into buying a nice deck I'll be able to use the RCA's. the engine whine is really annoying but at least it works and the truck is put back together.

Oh, gotta love those little 3.5" in the far rear pillars. Kept forgetting about those. Wonder if I should upgrade those and hook em up to the amp.

...I'm kidding

Have a good night

Well atleast it all worked out pretty well in the end, except now you have a useless PAC adapter sitting around.
Those rear d-pillar speakers are not even worth upgrading unless your kids appreciate fine music too haha.
I can't wait till I get a subwoofer installed, my aftermarket deck amde the mucis alot better, but the bass is still pretty crappy.

I'm still stumped as to why the speaker I used to test the output from the deck never made a peep but worked great with RCA's connected. Usually a dead giveaway to low level outs. But like you said, at least it's done, for the most part.

I will say too that I remember why I stopped doing installs for a living. Besides my partner being a ********. My hands are thrashed, my back is killing me and I still can't feel my toes. It was 12* degrees this morning and I ran out of propane!

I'll return the PAC adapter on Monday. I won't get my $22 overnight shipping fee back but cost of doing business I guess. :\

I appreciate you trying to help out. Now I need to get that blacked out GMC logo put on my grille. maybe next week. lol

Final two pictures.

Sub just before I put the quarter panel back on and then the quarter with the grille I made. I wanted to do just the top part of the grille (tan with the brown grille cloth) but I made the hole too big on the plastic for the other grille I had made that I didn't like. So I had to make a bigger piece to cover that first then lay the new grille on top of it.

Talk about sleek install, good job!!!
I do want to know how you attached the box to the metal behind it?
Or how does the box stay in place?

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Took me long enough. :)

the box is form fit to the back obviously, so all I did was put silicone on the box itself and some on the metal, then set it in place. Then I wrapped all the edges with about 4" wide strips of dynamat which serves a couple purposes. First, it further deadens the metal, second it helps hold the box in place and third it prevents any inadvertent air leaks. There were a couple small ones after I had to redo the side of the box. In the photo of the sub and box, the left edge was actually cut off and replaced with a piece of 1/4" masonite and then glassed in place. That gave clearance to that little pocket on the panel.
