Spent my Black Friday junkyard shopping. Got some Hybrid Tahoe Taillights a denali roof rack, a whole misc trim and some stuff for the C10 all for 60 bucks.
Hybrid Tahoes plugged right in. Sad that the truck was black cuz i liked the white D Pillars.
Spring time ill paint them up to match.

Swapped out the old Taylor 10mm spark plug wires for some (fire-breathing Amazon specials) 8.5mm Dragon Fire wires.

Here's what the busted coil connector looked like in the Taylor.

In hindsight, I should have ordered wires with straight boots on n the plug-side, and not the 135° boots.

When I have some free time I'll test the resistance on the old wires. There was some weirdness happening with the single wire I tested.

All the Taylor wires tested between 215-245ohms, except for that bad one which was way out in left field; totally fackered @ 19.3 megaohms.

I already miss the white D Pillars but also discovered that the Tahoes are a different rear bumper design as well as well as the bulb are completely different sockets 3157s vs 7440 IRRC. Ill live with the bumper until I can score one from a junkyard or FB.

Denali Roof Rack will go on after this snowstorm hits.

Finally cleaned the throttle body. ( did not want to remove it )……. But using throttle body cleaner, carefully used a tooth brush to clean around and inside, as best as possible.
Second photo shows the residue along the edge.
Also cleaned the MAF sensor.
Replaced air filter.

Started it up… coughed a little bit as expected, cleared up quickly….. I’ll see how much difference ( improvement? ). It will make after I drive it a bit tomorrow….

Battery tested bad. The local Fleet Farm only offered exchange but I had already replaced it from my local parts store guy that has always taken care of me. I don’t want to do a return to him on that battery so now I am stuck with this new Interstate.

Better to figure it now instead of some dark parking lot somewhere. Good job realizing the signs. My ass is puckered about mine too.

After cleaning my throttle body, etc.,
I noticed a design flaw with the Airaid intake….. The radiator hose is against the bottom of the intake.
I will fab some sort of insulation between them. Kinda silly to have a hot hose to heat the “cool air”.

Did you get their panhard bar too? They look nice and stout.

No I’ve had a Spohn bar for years. Yeah the lowers are 2” and uppers 1.5”

IMG_0224.jpeg

Just finished up. The diff is centered now front to back. It was about 3/4” forward before. Should technically handle a little better but idk if it’ll be noticeable

I have read the hybrid ones are totally different. they have led in them to save some power I guess. was a big deal in 08.

does everything work right? wiring wise? turn signals and all work correctly?

the gmc hybrid had the Denali tail lights that look like the old jdm altezza looking lights but with led bulbs. I had a few people ask me if I added them. the sockets went bad on mine and I just replaced them with the knock offs that look like the Gen newer

They are definitely different from normal tahoe. The shape is similar to eskys. However unlike the esky the Hybrid Tahoes plugged right into the yukons harness with 0 zeros. Tbh i never liked the yukons style of taillights even the Denalis.

Yes only the top portion is led ans functions as brake and running light with the bottom strictly turn signals no running light.

Sorry guys, I know its been awhile since I posted, but partial knee replacement has kept me busy this past year.
I finally got Black Betty into see Jeremy @ FasterProms, Clearwater, FL AGAIN!!! She was not running as smoothly as she was pre hurricane and I knew something was off. He diagnosed a few issues, so I now am happy to report I just have to wrap my ignition wires in hear shields. Easy Black Friday purchase and fix.

that's nice that they work. and I'm with you, I didn't think much about them at first, but with friends joking about my ricer tail lights all the time when the sockets went bad, I didn't put much effort into fixing them. Just bought different styles.

I went with these off Amazon. so first they seem to be doing OK and kinda match the headlights. which I believe both were basically copying the next Gen up.

that seems like good power. I bet it's a fun daily.

I've heard it can be hard to get into see Jeremy these days. I grew up in Tampa going to the street races on gandy Saturday nights. he would be out every now and then when he was a kid. can't say I really knew him, but cool to see what he built for himself down there.

edit, for heat shielding I've had good luck with the accell ceramic plug wires on my other car. it's got weird headers on it that one of the wires basically touches the pipe at all times. even wrapped and sleeves it melted often. found the the ls drift guys run the ceramic without issues, so tried some and haven't had an issue since.

I like those to. But im cheap guy so i get most of my non essential parts from junkyards.
To me the Denali Taillights just don't match anything on the truck. Its a fauk carbonfiber ricer era taillight. They should have carried it over on the third brake light or headlight buckets.
I actually stumbled upon the Tahoes at the junkyards Black Friday sale so it was a happy surprise.

Already ordered LED reverse and Turn Signal bulbs for it.

If you go to the junkyards and find some rear body vents (above the tail lights under the 1/4 trim) that aren’t falling apart, I need a set for my 13. I don’t have any junk yards near me that claim to have them. I need a C pillar trim also but it seems too big to ship.
