I really like this. I've been wanting to paint match my running boards for years. I was going to leave the actual step part black. I like this more tho. Didn't even know these were a thing
I’m the only one I know of to PTM the chrome on the running boards. ;)

It got down to -17* last winter here.
Is that winter enough for you?
Luckily, my cars will be in my shop this winter instead of sitting outside in the cold and snow.
Only -17? Sounds like a typical Michigan winter. You didn’t make it out of the teens. Maybe this year you’ll get lucky. I think it was -30’s when I was there last. Honestly, I grow disdain for the winter the older I get. However, it makes me appreciate spring that much more.
And I hear you on moving. I’m done with all that packing crap.

Carbon Flash Metallic is very dark. At first glance, you'd think it was black. You can't tell from the photo because my truck was filthy dirty. One of my next projects is a full color correction.

Those new headlights are on Amazon. I know nothing about them, except that I like the way they look, probably because you don't see them on everyone's Yukon yet. More than likely, they're about as mediocre for illumination as the ones I already have. I also like the OEM-style ones that are blacked out. At least I know the beam pattern would be good. The best aftermarket headlights are the projectors sold by Morimoto. But I struggle to justify spending $1k for them.
You might think mine looked black in the sun. Yours is a very similar color to mine. Basically the next years colors, just a change in the naming.

I was wondering how they were compared to the Morimotos. I don’t think I can justify the $1k headlights either. My luck someone would back into me or lose a hammer from their tailgate, which bounces off the car in front of me and then hits my light perfectly.

Trying to source some half decent silicon front wipers. Apparently the non-hook slip on type connection seems to be the norm for 07-14?
Had to double check and yes I have hooks on the wiper arms. The type that actually looks compatible specifically states "gen 2 & 4"

Edit; Rofl according to my glovebox this is not a z71. Why it has 4wd low and an extra cooler and stuff then? Has Z82 marked there but isn't that just the trailer hitch etc?

I committed a sin. I dropped the alternator mounting nut for the positive battery cable down into Narnia. Prob on top of the VLOM.

Got My airbag recall done. Need to do the oil catch can and install updated valve cover.

Were they successfully able to crack your dashboard?... lol

Funny they said it would probably crack. I said i already have a dash cap on. :D
Been putting this off because exactly this… if they crack my dash (no cracks at all…. right now) im gonna be pissed. I was thinking of disconnecting the battery (s) and taking it all apart myself, carefully, then putting it all back together loosely the night before i bring it in so that when they do it everything comes apart easily and they ain’t jammin on s h i t e to get it apart…. I just don’t trust them…. at all….

I had mine done a few years ago, when I took my Yukon in to have the new transmission flashed to the ECU. She told me they have to say the dash may crack, but that in her experience she'd not seen it happen. Mine already had a small crack from the upper left corner of the airbag cover to the forward edge of the dash. But they didn't make it any worse.

It will crack. They tell everyone the process "might" cause damage, but there is almost no way to avoid it at this age.

Mine has been garaged since new, out of the sun and in the last 4-5 years its been outside there has been a sunshade in the windshield when parked. No sun exposure = NO CRACK…. At least i keep telling myself that anyway

I'm jealous. The issue with the airbag swap is that they have to pry it out of the top, vs. the factory install from below before the dash is installed into the vehicle. Prying it out tends to flex the dash so much that it causes the corner crack. A brand new dash would likely also crack for the destructive procedure.

No prying needed, the airbag comes out from below even with dash in... (glove box removed)
Not sure if they need to pry the defroster panel off or not.. But I remember having to pry the vent panel off.

I found the right plastic prybars, make removing the interior trim much easier.
I was using those blue schwaben brand prybars, but the last set of replacement clips I bought came with these skinnier orange prybars.

Yeah the screws are right there behind the glovebox. I’ve been in there a time or 2…;)

had mine done a couple months after the letter arrived, no damages.
I have had my airbag out before to replace the passenger side blend door actuator, it's relatively straight forward the "top" of the airbag is part of the dash on the passenger side it comes out relatively easily once the bolts are removed, the clips are pretty short in that respect.
you could pull it out and set it on the floor before you take it in, the airbag light would be on, no big deal it is a self-checking system once the new one is installed the light goes out.
