I wish I could attend.
Beautiful no rust weather here. I worked my first 18 years in the industry in rust state of KC, Mo. Then the last 22+ years in Oregon. I wish my body could do 8-9 hour days and work in the shops and make that $100k+ money now. Not fair sometimes.

Same.
This new generation will definitely be in trouble. Damn shame when a person doesn't even have the knowledge to even change a tire--and doesn't even want to learn--or even care!
Yea, it is distressing to see it coming. My time on this earth is likely coming at the right time in the scheme of things.

Its actually worse than that... They dont even know that Check Engine, or Oil Pressure Low, or ??? means they likely need to stop driving the vehicle, and get it to a shop.

I am amazed at all the vehicles I am seeing on the auction sites that have perfect bodies, but are all mechanically totaled from engine/transmission damage.

Neighbor's daughter's 2012 Jeep Liberty, had the CEL on with 3 evap codes but drove for over 3 months before contacting me, because it "ran fine". Did a dealer fuel fill cap instead of aftermarket. Used fine sandpaper to clean the top of fill spout, where the cap seal hits. Crud built up there.

Whoever replaces the fuel fill cap, should always check the seal contact area for crud built up and to make sure is still completely round and not bent. Over time, the weight and slamming it in of the gas handle nozzle can damage the sealing area.

3 days later, the light is still out but may have to dig deeper. I have worked on the vehicle before and explained maintenance and dash lights importance. Deaf ears with a college freshman. Does not want to be without her vehicle. All I can do is "inform" and hope it sinks in. May not sink in till a major problem happens.

Hell, after I put the cap on and on a roadtest, I noticed the fuel gauge read less than 1/8th tank and then the low fuel light came on. I stopped and put $20 in and charged them for it. I then explained, before I gave keys back, the importance of fuel in tank for cooling the fuel pump.

This is why mechanics will be making lots of many years down the road.

Why not read the readiness monitors to see if they've set?

Did an oil change on a 2019 CRV with 1.5 turbo. All was going good till came time to change the PCV valve. Pushes into a bore in the valve cover at the back passenger side. As you can see in the pics, the center pulled out of the housing and left the housing in the valve cover. Gonna have to remove valve cover and push out from inside. Rescheduled for later in the month. As you can see the cabin air filter was filthy.

That filter looks like a bird condo.

I believe I have a way for getting that broken piece of the pcv valve out, without removing the valve cover.

#1. The underside of that valve cover, where the tube is for the pcv valve, is not open on the end. It is enclosed. My thoughts of valve cover removal to push out from the inside is a no go but if need be, I could remove the valve cover and have it on a bench to have easier access. Or replace the valve cover assembly, if is a worse case scenario.

#2. There is plenty of room between the passenger side back end of the valve cover and the firewall. I believe there is enough inner diameter to the grey housing of the pcv valve to reach in with a pick with a 90 degree or curled hook and grab at the holes you see in the pics. Then pull it out and I can use a bigger tool to use for leverage at the handle end of the pick. The only thing seized up is the o-rings.

#3. I have a set of left hand thread easy outs that are big enough to slide inside that grey broken piece and see if I can twist it out,

#4. I cannot use penetrating fluid and spray in there because I do not want it mixing with the new oil.

I can't tell the inner diameter of it but perhaps a lag or wood screw of some size could be threaded in to grip enough to be able to pull it out. After the pick attempt, of course.

Toward the top of the housing it is hollow and broken off, inside, toward the bottom. There is nothing to get a wood screw in to till about when it necks down just below the first hole. I just need to overcome the o-rings. Gonna be delicate with the removal but if goes bad, the new valve cover is less than $50 at RA or below $100 at parts stores.

Every part I take off a vehicle and set aside and new parts ready for install and fluids, set on top of my 3 tier Snap On box. The cart was not any help with that because it had a flip open top. I had several 5 quart jugs of oil and gallons of coolant and diff fluids and and and set at the sides of my big box. taking up too much room. Every bit of my jugs of fluids are now stacked on the new to me 13 drawer S/O box. My stainless steel top of the big box is now looking like a landing deck on a carrier, AGAIN. Plus, way more drawers to make some room in the drawers of the big box. Plus, the storage spot that the US General cart took up is good for the new box. I may now die with these 2 boxes......LOL! ;):D

The seller of the box had it initially listed for $1800. Then down to $1600. Then down to $1500. I talked and talked till I was blue in the face and got him down to $1300 but then I laid off for a bit. I actually started out at $1100. We agreed on $1250 and he delivered it to me.
