Reservoir is pretty low with pump running... need 3-4 more gallons easily, but I took it out for a lil drive.
This pump moves a lot more water than the other one but the sweet spot seems to be about 35% speed on it, intake temps stay in the 70s (95° outside) and ect will stay like 208-212. Every once and a while it bounces up but can slow the pump down even more to get ac pressure back down.

I would still like to do more to get it working better.

One problem I've always had was the air filter location is right behind the radiator. Without any cooling the intake temps get to like 135-140°, so the intercooler/chiller are knocking 60°+ off of the air temps.
I ordered a "cobra head" elbow to try and see if I can put the air filter somewhere better. If I can get it to pull in 100° air I would be in a much better spot and the chiller would have to work less.

I may try and see how hard it would be to underdrive the compressor. Cruising at 80, I'm turning nearly 2500rpm which the ac compressor is just cranking out the pressure but I don't need it. I think I would either need a larger pulley on the compressor or a smaller on on the crank?? I have an ATI damper so it's a pulley by itself anyway need to do some searching around.

Wow, this whole setup up is so beautiful but so complicated. Just crazy what you are going through to get the right setup. Wish I could provide suggestions.

pretty good news day.

ATI emailed me back said they make a 7.45 and a 6.24 ac pulley that will work. not too sure what size the one i have is and too lazy to go measure but i think its real close to 7.45. so ordering the 6.24" to swap, will have to find a stretch belt or use the tensioner, no big deal. but says wont ship til late august.
playing around with a pulley calculator:
7.45(crank) big and 4.3(compressor) small at 1000rpm compressor is spinning 1732rpm, with 6.24 crank im only loosing ~300rpm may have some effect at idle but i dont think much.

however at 2500rpm with 7.45 crank and 4.3 ac, ac is turning 4331rpm, with the 6.24 its down to 3627.

7.45/ 4.3 @ 2000rpm (which i have no problems maintaining) spins the ac 3465

pulley calc says belt should be about 33.5, found a 33.7 that i will try out but will likely just have to trial and error that but should be a good sstart
--------
ordered the smaller ac pulley

got door handle in and fixed...the dorman part feels cheaper than the oem, not really surprised. looks the part tho

3 more gallons of antifreeze in and put in the reservoir.

intake tube shipped, no date for arrival tho

front (and spare rear) brake pads showed up kinda late tho, so will try and get those on tomorrow night prob

Handle broke, can't get gm for a week or two...so against my better judgement going to try the dorman

pump and rear reservoir are back online, need couple more gallons of coolant though, probably enough in there to test but was messing with other stuff.

still waiting on brake pads :banghead: friend has a little parts side business so i order parts through him every once and a while, he'll usually match whatever price i can find online...but either way mostly just supporting.... shipping is taking forever on these pads tho. rotors been here a week that i ordered thru rockauto

After replacing gm handles more than once and the popular doors with new gm, I bought a dorman the last time. So far, it's done fine. That was 6 years ago or better. The "pull" feel isn't the same but Casey says you can adjust the rod and make it feel more solid. I've yet to do that but will...someday

yea the handle seems to work fine...its on passenger door so i wont use/feel/see it as often

front brakes done, rear brakes done over the weekend..went out and bed them all in after i got done with fronts.

not sure if theres actually a procedure - i usually do a handful of progressively harder stops with cool down(cruise) between, never letting the pads sit on the rotors (not coming to a stop and holding the brakes)

and at the same time i also forgot to turn on intercooler pump and iats got up to 123° before i noticed :emotions36: still drove fine, but it sucks them getting so high without any cooling...the cabin ac was cold as hell tho without the chillerdoing anything. as soon i turned on the intercooler pump temps dropped down to like 90 (ambiant temp the tank was sitting at) in about 15 seconds

Holy Jesus bless my tinkering friends in need. Amen,
It's all starting to come together

also, another question some of you guys who tow a lot may know - @Geotrash ? i bought a cheap 7pin plug tester cause i havent towd with this thing since it was stock height years ago. didnt want any surprises. all the lights test out good, running/brake/left/right/reverse but the 12v+ constant pin on the plug? i read some (most) trucks dont come with the fuse under the hood as its not really needed unless your running accessories thru the plug? should i be worried about it? dont know if i ever had it cause i probably didnt need it at the time

It's not connected. It's the bundle of wires under the brake booster and it connects to one of the studs on the front of the fuse box. The fuse is a 40 amp J-Case.

Don't forget, whatever you plug into will pull power even when you shut your truck off. It could drain your battery.

ordered a coupe stretch belts for the ac and picked them up from oriellys, also dug thru my stash and found a few more - i have like 5 or 6 total, also found an ac belt tensioner (pre stretch years) so i should be able to make something work. ive got the stretch belt tool around here somewhere

fronts pads still had plenty of life left in em

efd in the a.

first i thought swapping the ac pulley was going to be easy, cause the ati bolts together and leaves a hub on the crank...but the ac pulley goes behind that hub so i ended up having to pull the whole thing off the crank anyway :emotions122:
the 337 stretch belt i got worked out as a stretch belt even... no real clue what the tension or anything is supposed to be on it, but it went on about as much as the stock one on the stock pulley before needing the tool and spin the crank to install...so i guess its close?

but it didnt make a damn difference, ac does the same thing :doh2:

Last trick i got is to get the intake away from the radiator and as mentioned before....hopefully suck some air that isnt 140+ degrees into the turbo and maybe the intercooler/chiller wont have to work so hard to keep temp down. it wont be here till monday tho

maybe evac a little freon

Converter is not optimized for towing
Prob rides better with the weight but it def feels it back there
for the freon charge... i think i need to have it in park and just rev to 2500rpm and see what the gauges say and adjust from there i prob shouldve done that a long time ago cause nothing else is working
