My V2 cluster is almost ready I swear! Touch up and programming taking a while, but this one is gonna have some of you wide eyed and jaw on the floor when you see it. NOBODY has done this like this before!

Parts are ordered for color changing needles! Also just to be clear: this will only be for the 99-02 clusters (yes '99 included) that use the air-core motors (We the forgotten ones still out there). And obviously to achieve this effect, you will have to use the white needles, but you will be able to illuminate them at any time day/night anyway and change the brightness. And on top of all that: they will all be able to change to any color and setting totally seperate from each other! Example: you can have 1 bright blue tach needle, a dim yellow speedo, green fuel, etc. I'm gonna jump on this as soon as they get here fellas. In the meantime... back to finishing the rest of what I've created. I had no idea this would take so long to get right. I'm gonna call it Project Pandora's Box :)

That's what's up!!! Love em already!
And it looks cleaner and smoother now when the speedo and tach needle color change at 75% sweep. It's not an electronic color change tho. Just blocking off underneath the needle base to only let a certain section of light in. I do want to set up some kind of sensor/trigger mechanism so that the lights actually do change color at say: 5k rpm or 100mph for example. That would be boss

A color morph with a high gain slope would be perfect from a functional standpoint.

Man, this is really good & cool stuff! Do you only work on the ‘99-‘02 clusters, or you also do work on the ‘03-‘06 stuff..? :emotions34: I certainly can’t justify replacing mine (again), and I’m pretty happy with it.. just curious.

I've never owned an 03-06 so haven't had one of those to play with. Yet. I would like to tho. If I came across one for a good price then I'm sure I could figure out a way to engineer some rgb leds in those too (actually someone had done them before- Devious Needle Glow? Something like that. Not sure if they're still around tho) Anyway... right now I'm focused on finishing this 99-02 project. I wish I had a 3D printer...

Cluster looks good man. Looks fully functional. So did you do the upgrade yourself, pay to have it done, or buy it like that?

Questions:

What's more important if you could just have one:
1) having the needles change to any color with a phone app like I have this set-up now
2) electronic sensor engineered in to read needle position and trigger the LEDs to actually change color at a set point (1 time choice of position and color and then it's set, not app adjustable)

If I make this into a kit, or do it as a cluster upgrade service, how many of you would be interested?

Also, I'm trying to visualize a $ amount for this if I do sell em...
