that fan blade matches the one on this shroud I bought that is supposed to be 700w
I wonder what the backside of a 5 blade non-rimmed 500w fan blade looks like, there must be a design difference between the two more plastic or something on the 700w
Most likely a slight increase in blade pitch.

probably and with photos online it's hard to tell since there all generic pictures, I could ask my dealer parts department if they have a 500w fan in stock and compare mine, there usually pretty cool with stuff like that, they like me because I buy parts all the time lol

I've been following this thread as I have a fairly new to me 2008 Denali that has been running hot (engine) while towing my 4500lb travel trailer. I've changed the water pump, thermostat, swapped the radiator for a cold case two core and hooked up the oil and transmission cooler lines, added customized radiator baffles (the OEM ones are stupid expensive) and added a Derale larger transmission cooler. When towing up local hills with the AC on and my family in the vehicle, the engine temperature will touch 230, the transmission temperature has always stayed below 190. It always seems to go back down off throttle and on the flat will hover around 210 to 215. One thing that made a big difference for me was swapping out the Denali grille for a standard Silverado grillle. But the temperatures hitting 230 still concerns me.
I have a custom horizontal billet grille on mine, so we were thinking that is playing a role in the amount of air I’m pulling through as well.
Did you Mount your Derale up top or down below?

Mine is mounted in the stock location in front of the radiator.

Is there much noticeable difference in the 5 blade rimmed vs non-rimmed?

These pictures both represent the K5L 700w: 1st picture is the 1st design with rimmed, and 2nd picture is the 2nd design non rimmed. The jury is still out as to which style is better.

The K2 platform continued to use the 5 blade non rimmed, but they have PWM type motors attached to the blades. Maybe the non rimmed ones flow better??

Do you have a pic of the backside of that bottom (5 blade non-rimmed) setup?

Thank you for confirming my illusion confusions. I thought they had both models.
So now there’s a triple threat monkey wrench added to the mix. Which one is better?
I’m also wondering if the engine size plays a role in how well the fan works (i.e. will a 5/5 rimless work better for the 6.2l, whereas the 5/5 rimmed is better for the 5.3l?)

Are there only two bolts holding that fan shroud on? If so I can zip them off real quick and get you guys the numbers and photos from my Denali.

Doing a cfm test will have to wait until I have her back together though. Currently she has no fluids or a front end.
