That shine can be removed by using Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner in the green can. Use a small bristle brush, scrub a small area and mop it up with a clean rag then go to the next area. It makes the leather look and feel new and match up with your new stuff. It’s not something to use on a regular basis, just once every few years. I learned about it from a video on The Seat Shop.

thanks for this. My avalanche seats have a shine and I hate it. My dad bought it new and is a fan of amoral and shine. I replaced the dash so I got that shaped back up

Honestly I have extremely insane OCD and the feel, quality is almost identical. Keep in mind if you used leather conditioner on previous seats they will have a slight shine to them from years of sun exposure and wear. You can see the difference in that but the quality is really good in my opinion.

Oil cooler gasket. Looks like I’ll be having to do the oil pan gasket as well. A drop of oil overnight to mark her territory. Planning on working on the dash as well, it’s in rough shape. 3C2E0CC7-2CFE-48C3-B7A4-AFD55EBFC33D.jpeg

Well finally had something major go wrong with the Tahoe. No bad since buying it new in 2012 and putting 81k miles. I have zero complaints

Had to replace the driver side motor mount. This also fixed the random clunk I was getting

While doing both mounts I also replaced the idler pulley and tensioner.
Only because it was cheap enough. The kit also included both belts but not the stretch tool. Guess I Oder one and replace both when it comes in.

Is that a Dayco kit or AC Delco with the pulleys and belts?

I grabbed the Dayco kit a couple weeks ago because in the cold weather my belt and pulley makes some odd noises. Plus the belts need to be replaced anyway. I haven't installed them yet. I do have the stretch tool though.

Stretch tool?

It is a dumb "improvement" GM made.

You can order a tensioner for a 2008 and install it, the bolt holes are still there according to one of the other members who has already done it.

I'm not sure how much the stretch tool costs but I would rather put that money towards a tensioner.

Thanks for the info on this. The good tool is $20 but to swap to the 08 tensioner setup would be about $20 more. I may just go to the actual tensioner setup.

You will need a different (longer) AC belt if doing this
