With that, what is everyones thoughts on used, vs repaired, or remanufactured. I found this and feel like I can trust dorman over taking a gamble on a repair or used.

I am having the same issue.... I just ordered the resistor off of Ebay... when it comes in I guess I will be removing my cluster to fix it hopefully.

Resistor was like $6 with shipping... just FYI.

@kbuskill please post pics and a short DIY if you have time. Looks like $6 w/shipping beats out $226.95-although it is convenient lol. Good luck with the repair.

Had to clean egg off the Tahoe. Heard something smack the side of my truck when I was driving home as a car went by in the other direction. At first I thought we might have smacked mirrors but then figured it was just a rock or something. Totally forgot about it by the time I got home and then came out the next morning and saw egg all over my driver door.

This is after running it through a car wash:

Took a clay bar to it:

Hand washed:

You can still see where the egg impacted and scratched the paint:

As far as I'm concerned I wouldn't be entirely opposed to instituting the death penalty for car-eggers

I hate assholes like that. I had a guy throw his full cup of coffee at me once on the freeway- and it was a real plastic coffee cup from home, not a Starbucks one.

I recently had my NBS cluster remanned by Digital Dash Solutions, and they did a great job. (https://www.fixmygauges.com/remanufactured-clusters.html) Mine was already a Dorman replacement but I had them add the tranny gauge and the backlighting changed to LED (and new stepper motors). I believe they would do your year cluster, too, as either a repair or a swap.

The problem for me is this is my daily. I use it for everything. I can't be without a cluster and still drive otherwise I would ship it off.

I could try to use the wife's jeep, bit she still works too.

I've never done a DIY video... heck I can hardly even remember to take pics during or after a mod... lol

Besides there is only about a million videos on this very thing on YouTube already... the guy that @BG1988 posted has a bunch of them and he is very good.

I will keep you guys posted on the results though.

or get one of those digital displays

just drive with out or get a cheap ebay fako OBD2 cluster....

a few hundred miles with out the cluster will not make a difference... (value wise on a 07) as a 07 is only worth 7-9k on average

What did you do? He did it on purpose?

Wow, what did you do to piss him off that much? lol

He was cheating during rush hour, using an exit only lane (just like I do) that was about a mile long so he could pass stopped traffic and then tried to merge in front of me after I had just done it but I had found a space. Only difference was he had no skill and had pushed his luck until he ran out of lane so he expected me to stop and let him in front of me and that wasn’t happening. And nobody else was letting him in. He pulled right next to me and tried to shove me over or wedge in front of me but I just ignored the idiot so he got a bit pissed and rolled down his window and threw it just before giving up and exiting. I’m pretty sure he was late for work AND had no coffee or his favorite cup because that exit had no way to return to the freeway. Idiot.

The balls on that kid though. Must have thrown it from the car that was passing me. If I had actually seen it I could have just turned around and followed them.

Halloween around 1987. I'm driving down the road and two kids throw eggs at my car and I quickly pull over and wash it off at a nearby gas station. Just then my buddy pulls up and we go down the street they ran and catch up with them. They see us coming and start running, my buddy passes me, they run into their house and into their bedroom. The windows are open, my buddy pulls right up onto their lawn, jumps out and showers them with BBs from his new automatic bb-gun! Bet they never did that again! We skedaddled after that right quick before their parents realized what happened and came after us!
