Did you get to see The General?

Unfortunately, no.

We did end up going to Stone mountain. The whole point of the trip was to let the kids see their first snow. Since the weather wasn't very conducive for snow where we were staying, I opted to take them down there so they could ride the tubes down the hill and play in the snow that they make there.

It was almost a 3 hour drive from where we were staying to get to either one and we obviously didn't have time to do both in the same day. And I didn't want to make another 5-6 hour round trip past Atlanta if I didn't have to... lol

premium ceramic from autozone have served me well, lifetime warranty so whenever they wear down just take them in and they give you new ones for free
  • DGC1363/DGC1194
they run about $60 a set but it's a one time cost only
Sounds like a deal to me. It had a 15%off code so I paid $105 with tax. Not bad I guess.... Guess we will see how they work....

Here is a link to some on EBay that are identical....

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/132634623093

I think the ones I got came from Amazon but not 100% sure. My MIL bought them for me. The link I sent her no longer takes me to them, it now takes me to some LED headlights with a fruity rainbow colored halo... lol
When you install them I would like to know how the fit and finish of these are. This is something that I would like to put on mine.

I mentioned before that I basically have these installed in my truck now. The only difference is the ones I have now have a halo for the DRL instead of the bars.

Other than that the mounting is identical because the ones I have now are for a Jeep. I already modified my bumper to accept the Jeeps mounting bracket and I intend to just swap over the light itself and use the existing bracket that is already attached to the bumper.

Here is what the old ones look like...

Please excuse the old pic... she needed a bath.

What needed to be modified? How is the light output?

Light output on the ones in the pics (old ones) is excellent. Nice cutoff line and very bright.

They are 6k white LED so not exactly a fog light, more of a driving light. If you wanted a true fog light I suppose you could tint the front of the housing with a yellow film though.

As far as modifying goes.

I had to cut out some of the original mounting area for the factory fog light and make room for the bucket that the Jeeps use.

I could never go back to stock fogs at this point but I don't really care since the aftermarket for Jeep lighting is huge compared to our trucks.

About the only options for a direct plug and play fog light for our trucks is the Morimoto projector fogs, which look virtually identical to these but run about $200.

These are about $40 and require a slight modification to get them installed but when done correctly they are adjustable just like the factory fogs and once you get the Jeep mounting bracket installed in the bumper you can swap any Jeep fog light over to the brackets with ease.

The factory fogs use 3 mounting points like this...
rps20181229_121733_658.jpg

The Jeeps use this style of mount with 4 tabs around the perimeter...
rps20181229_121807_506.jpg

I essentially cut off the four tabs that stick out around the bucket and cut out a hole behind the factory fog light in the bumper and attached the Jeep bucket (That I cut the mounting tabs off of) using self tapping screws through the bumper and into the new fog light bucket.

This keeps the up and down adjustability that you see in the picture.

Morimotos (direct fit) for comparison...

Broke in the $15 Walmart DA polisher on polishing out the ghost images from debadging as well as a minor scratch from way back when Jenn was driving the Tahoe:

She brushed a low-hanging branch ad put two swipes in the clearcoat:

Polished out (I took the pic from another angle cuz the wall girts of the shop were reflecting in the finish and looking like there were more scratches) :

"LTZ" ghosting:

Yup. The scratches and ghosting were just in the clear coat. It took a lot of polishing, but I used polishing compound which is less aggressive than rubbing compound. I used a power polisher so I was fine with using the slower-but-safer approach versus the quicker method that would've required more care to avoid damaging the finish. I would've had to finish it with a polishing compound, anyway. A lot of scratches can be polished out if they're just in the clear coat. The deeper ones can be reduced because the shallower beginning and ends of the scratch aren't into the base coat.

A nice coat of wax brought out even more shine and depth, so now I might have to do the whole damned thing. I'm gonna focus on just the debadged areas for now, though.

Chris did great work and it only cost him time and $15! Well, he'll probably take it back and trade it for some polish or something!

As for mine, well the kids are washing it for me now. Earlier had the tires rotated, balanced, aired up and torqued proper and that nail replaced by a patch!

Tires have not worn at all in the last 5,335 miles. Before that they were dropping each time we checked them. Just over 19,000 miles on them so far.

Nah, for what I paid for it, I'll keep it and use it 'til it breaks. I'm lazy when it comes to paint care because of the elbow grease. This cheap li'l turd got 'er done and I didn't break a sweat!

After seeing the difference in the worked areas, I'm inclined to do the whole thing. If this polisher doesn't survive that task, I'm likely to buy another to finish it.

Cool, I bought a new cordless drill, the old one was eighteen years old and went missing until we bought the new one. Anyhow, I was thinking of buying that attachment from Maguire's for it with their polishes and such. What do you think of that?

Kids just came in and said they didn't have to dry the truck. I said, "Why?" My youngest said, "cause it just started raining!" Murphy's Law!

I did the same thing- lost my cordless drill kit (drill and impact) until right AFTER I bought an identical replacement kit. It turns out I left it inside a subwoofer enclosure I was working on. I paused the project and put the enclosure next to the wall with the speaker openings facing the wall. It sat there with the drill and impact, spare battery, charger, canvas bag and all, for almost two months.

I think that if you don't have a whole lot to buff/polish, you could "make do" with that Meguire's attachment. I've never used one, but I've held drills in such positions for a while and that just looks tiring and eventually painful for the wrists. One hand would be holding the handle on the attachment. The other would be holding the weight of the drill, moving it around and trying to keep it perpendicular to the surface, all while your finger fights the urge to go full throttle with the trigger. It may not be so bad, but that's my impression from it.

Right angle drill on low ftw.
