I would recommend ditching the ceramic pads for the expensive (but very worth it) severe duty pads. You honestly won't stop with ceramics on those rotors, and even after you break them in they'll be no better than stock. Severe duty all the way, you'll be able to lock the fronts at any speed with those on cross drilled and slotted rotors.

do slotted only tho cross drilled would destroy themselves over time. i micro cracked regular slotted myself. badly.

The old pads on my ifs gave out a month before the swap began, and I threw a set of el cheapo ceramic pads on there and boy howdy, they sucked at first! I had drilled and slotted rotors and the severe duty pads on there before were great but the ceramics barely did anything until I broke them in, then they were just ok.

What pads are recommended?

It sounds like I shouldn't have got these. Damn it. They're already installed and I don't wanna take them apart and clean them up to send back :(. Damn you power stop!! I went by their reviews and now I'm kicking myself.

hey. just think of it like you are contributing your experience to help other learn what not to do. every one has to be a test pilot sometime. run them for a bit if you like and post details on how they go for a bit or until you can't stand it any more then get some hawk super duty/sd pads that have red on the box pads. HB332P.654 for a 1996.

Should I change out the rotors too then or keep them and just replace pads? It was a kit from rock auto.

the kit would be easier to return processing wise but they might say it was a proven setup. regardless say you know of a proven method set that a guy known as sunlitcomet has been floating to the community. about time my ideas and proven parts recommendations get the recognition they deserve. if they want more ideas they know where to go. you will want to get some cryo rotors from powerslot/stoptech.

Did a full sound system upgrade over the last two weeks, threw a Kenwood DDX372BT in the dash and did my own DD install, turned out fairly decent though I need to do a little more sanding/smoothing out of the trim around the deck.

Front doors I went with Fosgate 6.5 components in order to replace both the factory woofer and tweater, in the rear I did Fosgate 5.25 2-ways, all of these powered through a Kenwood 40w X 4 amp, I ended up losing my cubby under the AC controls to mount the amp there. And then I did a Punch 8" off a Fosgate 500w amp, though I haven't been happy with my first box and will probably build another after I decide how I want to mount it. I learned the hard way that mounting it to the back of the seat gap cover causes all kinds of awesome rattles!

Had yesterday off so I swapped out my old rusty bumper for the diesel one I've had laying around since winter. I POR'd the inside of it first to hopefully prevent it from rusting. Looking at fog light options to go in the two holes now.

I've been happy with it in every way so far short of the load time it takes for skipping songs on the iPod when you have artwork on. I have a 120 gig classic in the glove box and it works fine as long as you have the artwork off for skipping fast, if the art work is on you have to wait 3 or 4 seconds before being able to skip to the next track. And what is the purpose of having a DD if you can't see the artwork. Well besides letting my wife watch movies. She still can't believe there is 70 movies loaded up and ready to watch at any time, lol!
