First attempt at replacement of those radiator baffles.

Used sheet aluminum.
used a screw driver to give it some stiffening lines...

I also found i had some nice reusable push lock retainers that fit the holes perfectly!

I'm sure this will make a terrible sound on the freeway, so I'll probably give it some rubber gasket or something along those lines.
:win:

Not looking forward to replacing mine. But I did buy a full set off of eBay of new OEM pieces. Since GM apparently doesn't have any.
Mine are all rotted and split.

Radiator Baffle
It's the same dude at the same store. She has them for sale individually though.
But he did see that I bought all four and he put them all in one box and ship them relatively quickly.

They’re pretty proud of those little pieces of rubber aren’t they? $130 for 4 of them?

4 baffles eh
I'm guessing the smaller ones are on the ends behind the headlights.

that aluminum sheet cost me less than $20 and i have enough to do all 4.

PITA part is the template... :hahano:

I like that idea. I might use my brand new ones as a template and do the same thing... Could even throw some rubber seals around the edge that meet up to the radiator when I put the new Cold Case in.

maybe line the new ones with some sheet.
give you some sound deadening + if they rot later down the road. It will just expose the metal backing.

It's all i could afford!!! :jester:

Another 1k if i wanted the 6.2 block.
add like 2k to that price and i could have gone full ls7!

and i did think about that for like 2 sec.
I think everything would have needed to be replaced, crank, rods, etc. :nono:

I'd just be happy with an aluminum 5.3...try to lose a little weight off the nose since ill be adding about 150lbs of blower parts. Possibly a steel bumper and winch down the road too.

I have whisky, and an air conditioned garage.

I need to go out and sit in the hoe, make some noises that loosely sound like what i expect the 6.0 to sound like.

:fuckyea:

I rebuilt my old subaru motor in a similar fashion. Garage, whiskey/bourbon, but definitely would have liked enjoyed the AC.

Got e85 last night... Apparently it doesn't matter whether you get Pearson Fuels or Propel Fuel.
They're all running about 60% ethanol right now.
Usually they do that in the winter for easier starts. Doesn't make sense to do it at the beginning of Summer.

I decked mine with reclaimed OSB and it made a huge difference.
Yeah, I actually do have a section on one side with a 4x10 sheet of plywood up there and have some boxes stored. I've been thinking of doing the rest but will probably wait out the lumber price hike that's going on right now. The garage is 25x35
