What i do about rock chips when im doin 85mph down to FL?
I know guys, as always, it is a personal preference and never want to offend anyone.
Just not my choice.
But funny thing is that I had a 1994 Z71 1500 beauty. And sure enough I had a smoked bug guard that worked very well in keeping the Arizona summer bugs off the windshield very well.
Go figure. Been trying to find pictures of it, but they are buried in boxes as they are only on print form.

Yea thats the kit i was gonna get, then i sold my 05 hoe and some cash left over after paying a few bills so i picked up the 2/3-4 kit. I just dont know if the 4" in the rear will be to low and make it look high in the front.

Yea its definitely personal preference, now on a black truck theyre fine since theyre hard to see. They do serve a purpose though haha.

Well maybe I don't wanna talk about it anymore...
OK, fine, I wanna talk about it more...
I don't know how well it would actually guard against rocks, but it goes on crystal clear and peels off, so maybe it's worth a shot. I had the idea a while back, but haven't tried it on the hood yet. Thought maybe I'd do the wheels, too.

sounds like a plasti dip but clear. Hopefully its stronger then the dip cause that and rocks dont mix well haha.

That's exactly what it is. Duplicolor has a whole line just like the dip, except they got the edge with the clear. Maybe it's enough to keep a rock from actually chipping the paint. Just an idea that I have thought was worth a shot because you can just peel it off...

Yea im sure it would help. Itd take most of the force and probably save the paint.. let us know how it works out.
Well I received our Street Scenes closeout and it will be going back. doesn't look that good. Also received my Leather Honey cleaner/conditioner. Man first impression is i can't wait to put it on the rest of the seats. i only had time to do the front 2. but it seems like really great stuff so far.

***CAUTION*** I do my own stunts!
While I did not complete all of this today I did complete it over the course of a couple days.
Dropped oil pan and replaced oil pressure relief valve.
Pulled timing cover and replaced timing chain with an LS2 chain.
Replaced oil pump with a Mellings 10355 high volume high pressure oil pump.
Removed the intake manifold to gain access to oil pressure sending unit to remove the screen filter for the AFM solenoids and give more clearance when I hoisted the engine up to remove and replace motor mounts.
New intake, valve cover, timing chain cover, oil pan gaskets.
New motor mounts.
New upper and lower radiator hoses and coolant.
New oversized K&N oil filter and Mobil 1 extended performance 15,000 mile oil.
New upper control arms.
New lower ball joints.
New cross drilled and slotted brake rotors and
ceramic pads at all 4 corners.
New Nokian 70,000 mile tires mounted and balanced.
Front end alignment.
I am very pleased with the results of the new oil pump. Before I would see about 40psi oil pressure at idle on a cold start up and about 25psi at idle when it was warmed up. Now I see 60+ at idle on a cold start and just below 60psi
at idle after its up to temperature.
Here is a pic of the front rotors...
I forgot to take pics of the rear but they look the same only with single piston calipers out back.
I painted the rotors and calipers with high temp gun metal gray paint and the pads with high temp red. Of course the first time you touch the brakes the rotors face gets wiped of paint but the edge and hat remain painted and hopefully wont rust for a long time. I took it out and bedded in the new brake pads and after that she stops really well.
Here is one cool thing that I had never seen before.... These tires are made in Finland and they have a tread depth percentage gauge built into the tread... I thought that was pretty slick.

@Galante Back to the first post about the bug guards. Paint to match guards look good. Check out @Burb!! his is legit, can barely even tell its there. One time I saw his truck was like why his headlights and grille look different, then closer look its the bug guard painted to match. Personally I don't like them either but done right, they can look good and provide the protection they are made for. For yours it looked good since your truck is black I would keep it. Getting the low pros as well and paint to match look good too.
Yeah, i may just buy a new one, not sure yet, i have time to decide what i want. Thanks @AppocAlexx
