Can you take a picture of how you orient it on the tire for me? I didn't lay it flat, I pointed it like a gun. I tried through the rim, at the stem tip, and through the tire above the rim.

That's basically how mine has to be or pointed directly at the stem, from the tread of the tire. Just move it around in various ways until the horn beeps.

My low side Schrader valve is leaking (I can see it bubbling), so I am going to replace both the low and high valve cores. There's a tool ($40) so you don't have to evacuate the system, and a valve core kit is only $15. It includes 4 valve cores, one port (in case you need it), and the caps.

One of the most common questions for DIY on the internet is "Which port is the low side? I'm surprised that both caps are black, when it would be so easy to have one side Blue and the other black or red (like the replacement caps in the kit). My wife would say having them both black is something a guy did.

Google a bit and you can find it elsewhere, and for a little less. There is another brand that operates on the same principle. I'll try to find the video to show how easy it is to use. This is the other, similar tool, and the process is the same:

I have a set of Appion 1/4" and 5/16" core removal tools used for home hvac/mini splits. They have replaceable o-rings and also work under vacuum so you can pull vac quicker and replace the core without loosing vac. I wonder if they make the quick connect adapters so they can be used on automotive ac systems.

So it arrived a half an hour ago and it was a total fail. I couldn’t get the quick connect fitting to stay seated on the port nipple. It kept popping off even when I had the core remover fully retracted. And yes, I was using the correct red one for the high pressure port. Super frustrating. Glad I didn’t cancel my appointment for Monday.

Wasting my time chasing oil leaks but fukit. Also did oil and filter change. Love the new bucket screen for catching the oil plug and filter.

I checked my catch can this afternoon. I haven't checked it since I changed the oil and filter since last June/4k miles ago and OLM is currently at 30%. I usually check it halfway through an oil change cycle, but just forgot to with the holidays and all. Well it was pretty full of light brown thick gunk. It wouldn't even drain out the valve on the bottom, I had to take it apart and clean it out. I might look into mounting it closer to the engine instead of way over by washer fluid reservoir. I think with it farther away it gets more condensation inside.

I'm curious now, what if it was full enough to actually block the PCV flow going to the intake? Would it cause a bit of rough idling and even cause oil leaks? I'm wondering if the oil leak I'm chasing that I thought was from the oil cooler blockoff area above the filter is actually coming from the PCV hose connection on that valve cover right above the oil cooler blockoff. It looks like there's some residue back there below that area near that back spark plug wire/coil

Well I totally removed the catch can so I could drain and clean it out. I noticed one of the 3/8" hoses going to the catch can had some cracks/dry rot at the nipple/fitting so I just put the OE PCV pipe back on for now until I get some new hose. I notice the slight rough idle I've been getting lately is gone.
