What a cool truck!!

Chevy Luv. Can't remember the last time I've seen one of those.

My dad always liked them, so my first car was a baby blue 2wd '78. Drove that 3-4 years til i bought my old cobat ss sc. Then he got a white '80 for my little brother, then found a '79 4wd, sold the white one. I found a '79 4wd...turned out to be a parts truck. Sold it, dad found a 350 swapped '75 to turn into a drag truck(still in progress), sold the bably blue '78. Then I found my '80 4wd...not sure if there will be more in the future lol

Doing the rearend oil, cover, and QA1 bar today. I dropped the spare and have the OE bar off, the lower sway bar links disconnected (for ease of access to differential), differential cover off and fluid drained. The fluid looked translucent like honey when it was draining. Did have an OE style gasket. Here's pics of inside cover and differential. Old bolts had red loctite on the threads, New bolts have lock washers but thinking of putting blue loctite on them

My grandpa had a Courier with a manual. I learned to driv on that at age 12. A couple of years later he replaced it with a Luv. Still with manual.

I didn’t drive an auto until I took driver’s Ed at 16.

You sure it was red loctite and not thread sealant? Because red loctite usually doesn’t give up without heat added.

Good stuff!! Did you drive up on the ramps? I didn't think they would clear under the running boards but I never tried that way myself.

Swapped out the headlights and fog lights today. Think it woke up my sleepy truck a bit.

Yup. Don't forget my front is lifted 2"

Before the lift i could only drive up forward on all 4 ramps.

I decided backwards today so I didn't have to deal with the ramps taking up space behind the rear tires where I was going to be rolling around on a creeper.

Finished, added about 2.5qts of fluid and all buttoned up and everything torqued to spec. That damn trackbar was a bit of a ***** to get the mounting holes lined up. It was very tight in the brackets. I did grease the bushings before trying. After a few cuss words and laying there contemplating the situation and what I had to work with I was able to use a big pry bar in certain locations to get it all lined up.

Just got done looking at my passenger mirror motor. I pulled off the back cover and checked the wiring. When the fold button is pressed the mirror does nothing. No noise, no vibration, nothing. I pulled the plug going to the motor and connected a DVM to the 2 leads and set it to DC voltage. It was in auto mode and was reading very slight mV, but when I pressed the fold button the voltage would jump up into the 12v range for a second then go back down. So guessing it's a bad motor and not gear related.

I have to research what my options are here.
you could maybe find a used oem mirror on ebay a scratched up or damaged one and use it for parts

Is yours 4x4?
Did you have to remove the cross-member to get those trans-cooler lines out? I spent a couple hours trying to get the old ones out, but couldn't wiggle them free.

Also, got a face full of rusty dirt, or was it dirty rust?
