I looked at Wilwood brakes but the kit is like $ 3600 :-/

Since you have 20s, have you considered doing a brake kit conversion?

I just got custom caliper brackets to install C6 ZO6 calipers and Baer 15" rotors up front. No real need to upgrade the rear where its not a racetruck.

The ZO6 or GS calipers are $264 ea on Rockauto and the rotors from Baer are $250-275 each. The can used the same brakelines you already have, just need some new crush washers and Banjo bolts for the new calipers

Where did you get the caliper brackets from?

Rudy over on one of the Silverado forums. I'll post his contact info up in another post.

Silverado SS forum? I have considered this for my Silvy but don’t those calipers have Corvette on them? That was one of my issues plus the fact that by the time you factor in the brackets and pads you have $1500-1600 into these and you can get the Wilwood kit which has way bigger 6- piston calipers for about $1800-2000.

It's all up to the member. But yes, the calipers would have Corvette on them

I get parts at cost, so I'll be under that $1000 number.

There is another place that does brackets for the C6 ZR1 calipers and uses the OEM BBK 16.25" rotors from the Silverado

There is another guy out there doing brackets for the larger ZR1 calipers and OEM 16.25 Silverado rotors.

I'll post up that link too

There can be cost savings if you can find lightly used calipers too. People with fast cars have a tendency to crash for some reason

I just found a new pair of ZR1 calipers shipped for $699.

As of last night:

Battery disconnected
Oil and coolant drained
Belts removed
Fans removed
Harness completely unplugged
Intake manifold removed
Water pump removed
Alternator removed
Accessory bracket and power steering pump unbolted and moved to side
Starter removed

It'll be ready to come out after the A/C compressor/bracket, mounts and bellhousing are unbolted. I'm gonna see if I can get the top four bellhousing bolts with the heads in place and not through the bottom with all the ratchet extension acrobatics. If it takes too long, I'm pulling the heads.

You’re terrible about posting pictures!
I know...IM sorry :(

I need to figure out something better for hosting, i have a bunch of stuff turned to private on on portfolio page but its all just getting linked here so I guess its fine. I also dont like posting cell phone shots, I like to post the DSLR pictures, which requires better backgrounds etc etc. I will get them soon though.

Rocket- I can stomach $1200 or so since I will have to do the front brakes anyway.

$ 3600 is a bit much, I only dropped 18k on the Denali.

I do not want to end up with more in mods than the SUV is worth...... I know no fun.......
$3600 is for front and rear, you can find the front Wilwoods for $1800 if you keep an eye out.

Installed the range device. Didn’t need to drive anywhere this evening to see if I notice a difference. But I did drive a mile to get my child from daycare and it does work. I feel better now.

Day 2 of DOD delete

Day 1: 8 hours. Removed exhaust, intake manifold, radiator, camshaft. Everything stripped down.
Day 2: 4 hours. Removed oil pickup tube bolt....

********! Forgot how annoying that was. On the G8 I dropped the pan and on my C5 the bolt was easy to get to. I remember dropping the pan down a bit on my GTO and that is what I ended up having to do, but it was a ***** with my large hands.

Hindsight being 20/20, I should have just removed the oil pan completely, would have been faster.
