I went out to start the Ole girl and I ended up having to break out the lithium jump pack. I haven't been driving it much since I got this job with a company vehicle now. My wife thinks I should sell it, but I KNOW I won't get anything close to the the money I have put into it over the past few years. Plus with the paint fading now on the hood and drivers side, I would be lucky to get $2500 for it. Id rather let it sit and keep it as a spare vehicle.
DO. - NOT - SELL - IT. Get a trickle charger.

Yeah I put new boots on it. I try and reuse oem axles as much as possible. Rockauto has inner and outer boot kits. You get the boot, clamps and grease.
How hard are the boots--and the process for the install? Last time I dealt with just replacing the boots was years ago. They were garbage back then and a huge pita.

That's how mine sits.

Went to severed in the southwest today. Didn’t enter the truck, too lazy to wash it. Decent turnout, considering the last show I went to was Dino’s git down.

Today I changed my oil. For the first time ever, yesterday I got the “oil level low” message. The oil life monitor said it had about 5% life remaining. Total miles on the oil were about 5,700. I only drained a little over 4 quarts. I’ve ordered the Dorman upgraded design driver side valve cover to hopefully reduce oil consumption through the PCV valve/baffle.

Edited to add: oh, and yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of my purchase of the truck!

Changed oil, greased the front end and changed pads and rotors on the rear.

Power stop z36 pads and coated rotors on the rears. I did a full set on my denali a few weeks ago and im pretty impressed with the z36 stuff so far.

I had to get a new hose for my grease gun as it cracked and the tip went bad. So I got a super flexible one and a kit with a locking tip. The kit came with a 90*adapter and it makes greasing the pitman arm and idler arm fittings a LOT easier.

The hood insulation and plastic cover in the engine bay look brand new and different. Or are my eyes playing tricks? Looks good man. Like that cattle guard
Thank you. I bought the Tahoe from a friend of mine about 3 years ago. He did a lot of work to it so I don't know if he replaced the hood insulation and cover or not. The push bars or whatever it's called looks a lot like the ones on the state police vehicles around here.

Yeah it does. I bet if it was a white Tahoe a lot of people you encounter on the road would be driving the speed limit. Or at least for a minute lol

On Sunday, changed the oil for the second time during ownership, first was around 155k, this one around 158k. Need to do drain and fills of the differentials, but didn't have the time so I checked levels and topped off. Front was fine, oil came out when the plug was removed. Rear was low, WAY TOO LOW!, we're talking 1.3 to 1.5 quarts low! It wasn't making noise, but I need to get in there soon and pop the cover, clean and inspect the internals. No Auto-Trak II available locally at the auto parts stores, so I didn't check the transfer case, need to make a trip to a dealership parts department. I have some work to do in the near future, the to-do list keeps growing the more I get done around the house and on the vehicles. It's like I am going in reverse. Eventually I'll get caught up, I hope.

After getting the Tahoe home, went to adjust the headlights because the driver's side was burning holes in the pavement about 6 feet in front of the vehicle. Got them adjusted but the driver's side had to adjusted way high. I don't drive much at night so it never really got attention after that, but I kept meaning to go back in and check something. Yesterday, with the tools out and in mechanic-mode, I popped the assembly out and immediately saw what I suspected was the cause. Whomever replaced the bulbs previously did not get all the ear/tabs to catch under the housing. One was sitting outside/on top, so the bulb was misaligned. I showed my wife the problem, and what it should look like when installed correctly. Made a quick adjustment to get it to match the other side for elevation, but it they need to be readjusted again no matter what. Luckily we have a nice big wall next door that we can pull up to and make the adjustments. Can adjust them after the movie tonight. Breakfast at Tiffany's is playing on the big screen at our historic Fox Theater.

Is that an Amazon product? If so, have a link? I have a mini gun from HF, and it didn't come with that nice locking tip.

I took the roof rack off, disassembled it, sanded it down smooth, and then washed it thoroughly to get ready for a few new coats of black paint. Mostly just the top racks
IMO, it looks so much better without the rack.20200519_154606.jpgIMG_7325.jpg20190917_171045.jpg
