Yesterday I drove for 8 hours in my 2001 Tahoe up to the Washington DC area to meet my daughter and pick up her dog for a week of dog care at my house. She is on her way to Disney World with friends from work so dad is on dog watching for the week. I drove from Virginia Beach to Alexandria, VA which are 4 hours apart. We had lunch and a visit for 2 hours and back in the Tahoe for the 4 hour drive back to VB. I have owned this Tahoe for 24 years and it loves the highway traveling between 70 & 80mph depending on traffic.

After getting the Tahoe home, went to adjust the headlights because the driver's side was burning holes in the pavement about 6 feet in front of the vehicle. Got them adjusted but the driver's side had to adjusted way high. I don't drive much at night so it never really got attention after that, but I kept meaning to go back in and check something. Yesterday, with the tools out and in mechanic-mode, I popped the assembly out and immediately saw what I suspected was the cause. Whomever replaced the bulbs previously did not get all the ear/tabs to catch under the housing. One was sitting outside/on top, so the bulb was misaligned. I showed my wife the problem, and what it should look like when installed correctly. Made a quick adjustment to get it to match the other side for elevation, but it they need to be readjusted again no matter what. Luckily we have a nice big wall next door that we can pull up to and make the adjustments. Can adjust them after the movie tonight. Breakfast at Tiffany's is playing on the big screen at our historic Fox Theater.
Adjusted the headlights last night, and what a difference in light output having the bulb installed correctly.

Also, never saw Breakfast at Tiffany's until last night. While she was hot, Audrey Hepburn's character in the movie, no thank you, too high maintenance

She only did it when my gf was on the other side of the fence. She wanted to get to her.
Mine was looking for me while at work, playing golf, anytime I wasn't home. Once she got out(I heard this from someone that saw this regularly) she'd then look to get back in, and once she couldn't, she went to roaming looking for me. I'd find her at the front door, nearby, a couple blocks away, etc. I was coming home once and she was in the middle of the road on the west side of the intersection of the 4-way stop looking up in the driver's windows of the cars that stopped seeing if it was me. I pulled through the intersection, flipped around, stopped, opened the back door, Sneakers get in, she jumped in and was happy as can be. She eventually got the electric fence and collar so she would stay away from the fences and gates.

Thankfully mine never wanted to go anywhere. This incident was unusual for her. I'm glad because it would've been a hairy situation as she was an 85 lb red nose pit bull. She was pretty intimidating if you didn't know her. 20180613_091627.jpg

I'm finally getting the first pieces 3D printed today I designed to work with the 2002 gauge cluster for my custom LED kit. What is it, you ask? They're spacers/stabilizer brackets for the air-core motors. My design does not use the clear acrylic underlay piece the overlay face sits on and the motors mount into. That piece just allowed for too much color bleed between the LEDs light. These pieces I'm getting done today keep the motors in place and sitting at the proper hight for the needles. And these pieces are just one part too. I have some other more complicated pieces coming soon to that'll let me actually be able to put all this stuff together as a sellable package so if you wanted to open your cluster yourself to install it, it would be a drop-in plug-n-play kit. Obviously not as easy as changing out the OEM backlight bulbs in the back of the cluster, but the end result is worlds better.
