Hello from Alabama.
I traded in my 2019 Ram two weeks ago for a 2026 Yukon. This is my first Yukon/Tahoe, but I’ve wanted one for as long as I can remember. Those old, early 90’s two doors are my absolute favorite.
We ended up going with an Elevation with the premium package, as it ticked all of our boxes without any unwanted risks (I’m looking at you 6.2l). It’s a 4wd 5.3l with the rear entertainment system for our 4 year old. We take anywhere from 2 to 4 road trips each year, usually two to the beach in Florida and two trips to Texas to visit family.
We have three dogs that travel with us, along with the occasional mother-in-law or two. We would mostly take my Ram, and sometimes my wife’s XC90, but were quickly running out of space. If it had been solely up to me, we’d have gotten the XL, but my wife is a little apprehensive about driving something so long. She had a tough enough time driving my Ram without putting scratches all over it. I wouldn’t want to put her behind the wheel of a brand new $100,000 land yacht. We may someday graduate to the XL, but not just yet.
So far, it’s been an absolute delight. I really love it. I broke it in that first week driving all around Birmingham, then we drove it out to north Texas last week to visit my family. I got to use the 4wd a little on the farm, and the dogs really seemed to enjoy the extra space. We drove through a pretty big rain storm on the way out, and it was nice to not have to worry about our items in the bed of the truck or the tarp flapping about. Super Cruise is a pretty neat feature, though I typically prefer to do my own driving. I did use it some. It’s particularly helpful when trying to eat some grub on the highway.
I’m already looking around for accessories and modifications to make. It’s an itch that just needs scratching sometimes. I like to personalize my vehicles. I’d like to get some roof rails and a basket, and I’d love to add dual exhaust to it. I’ve been considering debadging it or adding a little something, but I want to remain tasteful.
I’m curious to hear what you guys have been doing to yours, or if there’s anything that I should be mindful of. Thanks for taking the time to read my little intro. Hope you’re well. Cheers!
